Off Topic / Walk This Way: Run-D.M.C. or Aerosmith?
« on: October 29, 2008, 08:47:08 PM »
Me and my friend were arguing about this in class.

I think it's Run-D.M.C. What about you?

Suggestions & Requests / Brick quotas.
« on: October 28, 2008, 10:09:42 PM »
For RPGs 'n' stuff. A mod that limits how many of a certain brick you can use, or how much a brick costs (individual bricks, like a vehicle spawn would be $100 while a 2x4 would only be $5)

I think it should be possible to disable saving on a server.

Good for loading and showing off apps.

Off Topic / Obama in my town soon.
« on: October 27, 2008, 07:28:20 PM »
Senator Obama is going to be in my town pretty soon, and me and a friend were planning to go see him. I've heard that people can start lining up pretty early for these things, and I was wondering if showing up about an hour and a half before the doors open would get us a seat in a venue of about 7,000. I live in a pretty large town, but not huge.

Forum Games / Write this story backwards.
« on: October 26, 2008, 06:21:08 PM »
I was inspired by the thread "how did we get here" to write this;

"Well, what have we got here?" The gay, anthropomorphic monkey said.
The possum had been caught. He had better back himself out of the ventallation duct before the files were transfered, fortunately for him, he still had a trick or two up his sleeve.
"What we've got here is Failure... To comunicate." The crafty possum crypitcally answered. The monkey was caught off-guard.
"An interesting answer." The monkey said, the interesting mixture of roosteriness and flamboyancy shinging through in his voice. "But it won't save New Troposphere City. Not by a longshot."
The possum was living on borrowed time. The nuclear reactor could only last so long. He felt it's heat radiating from beneath him. The dramatic conclusion to an interesting saga. The ooze in the tunnel around him slickened his fur. He had an idea.
"Hey Monkey." The possum said, readying his grappling hook.
"What?" The monkey responded. A tone that was not quite nervous was faint in his voice.
You know the files you need for yor evil plan to be complete?" He said, setting his watch to ring an alarm in several seconds.
"Yes, they're almost done transferring. And when they're done, I'll set the key into the nuclear reactor and..."
"Shove it. Those aren't the files you're looking for."
"That can't be!" The monkey was obviously shocked.
"Transfer these files."
The monkey tossed his watch out beneath the monkey. He shot his grappling hook off the side of the tower, grabbed his dame and hit the floor running.
The monkey shouted "You'll never get away with this!"
The possum smiled coyly. "I already have."
He did a backflip off the tower with his babe held tightly in his arms. The watch went off, the monkey stared down at it. Just as the helicopter the hook had attaced to pulled both the possum and his dashing bride off into the horizon, the nuclear reactor's protective layer broke up, and the gay monkey dropped to his doom.

The possum and his to be wife embraced eachother.

The end.

Your job is to write the next segment, only by next segment, I mean the one before it. It's like a continue this story, only I give you the ending and you have to work it back to the beginning. Have fun.

Help / Add-ons moved to screenshots folder?
« on: October 25, 2008, 10:23:42 PM »
One day I started the game and I found that all of my maps and add-ons were gone.

That's odd, I thought.

I re-downloaded the game and pulled the default stuff off of the new install of the game, and worked my collection back up.

I was in my screenshots folder recently to get something, and I saw my add-ons folder sitting there.

WTF? I don't remember moving it there, but I do have a bad case of sleep-movestuffaroundonmycomputer.

Drama / No... More... Polls...
« on: October 25, 2008, 09:50:23 PM »
I am so tired of noobs having polls with the question being something like "do you like this topic" or "do you like this idea" You shouldn't be able to post polls until you have like 100 posts, or something.

Suggestions & Requests / Dynamic Light/Sound/Emitters
« on: October 22, 2008, 10:22:49 PM »
I'm thinking this would require engine changes, but I'd love to see a brick be able to cut off sound, light, and emitters. I can't express to you in words how annoying this gets sometimes.

(Return to forums post :D)

Okay, some of you may have some of these updates under the SirMu tower thread (horribly outdated, buried, and I don't feel like bringing it back out and editing it) Some of you may have also noticed this on the RtB forums, which I had there temporarily while I was banned so that I could give people a link to look at. Seeing as how that forum is rather inactive, I thought I'd post it here for the general masses to see.

The Sirrus Compound.

I've been working on this for probably three weeks, at this point. It started out the SirMu tower, changed to the Sirrus Tower, and then I built a compound thing around it, and dubbed it the Sirrus Compound.

the compound in its early stages

Here's where I more or less am right now.

I'm so painfully close to finishing all exterior elements. I then have to do interiors for about four buildings (five once I do the building in the center.) And of course, events and little things around the compound to make it look nice and real. Right now it just looks like a big grouping of cool buildings.

But this is just a quick run-down with a few pictures. This is my RotB app, so obviously I want to get as much of it shown as possible, but seeing as how I've been working on it and updating as I've been going along, it'd be hard at this point to go back and recap EVERYTHING (which is more than you think) So right now, I just want to get pictures up and answer questions/take pictures per request.

Edit:

Here's a different angle that also shows the most recent addition: The infirmary building, not pictured in the other picture.

This also illustrates the horrible lack of something in the middle; I can't think of anything to do there...

Forum Games / Continue this story.
« on: October 07, 2008, 09:18:24 PM »
I started this story on a whim. A story about a sniper (I know, I know, boring) Anyway, I'm still going in the story itself, but here's the first major chunk. Take it from here. (Someone write a paragraph or so and the next person pick it up)

(and no 'u kil urself ur ded hurr hurr hurr' posts. A kitten gets cancer every time someone makes an idiotic post like this)

Breathe. Don't think. Point and shoot. The sniper lay on his stomach, as most do. He was waiting, again, as most do. His job was simple. The higher ups had done all the thinking, the hard stuff. His job was to pull the trigger. The hard stuff.
Why he had decided to do this, he would never fully understand. The fact was that right now, he had to pull the trigger, hit his target, or else he would be in a bad way with some worse people. There was a good chance that if he didn't accomplish his task, there would be someone else pulling the trigger on him.
"Target in sight, blowing the window in five..."
The seconds slowed. Breathe, don't think, point and shoot.
    "Four..."
    Why did I do this?
    "Three..."
stuff. This is really going to happen.
    "Two..."
forget. Stop breathing. Steady the gun. Acquire the target.
    "One."
The window in front of him shattered into a million pieces as the small charge broke the window. Time slowed. The explosion had not created fire and plumes, as you might expect, but created a loud bang. His target looked at him. He looked at his target.
Breathe. Don't think. Point and shoot.

I figured if there's one for Clans, there needs to be one for the Gallery.

Bullet listed for your convenience.
  • No one cares about your box house.
  • Use the megashot. Badpost gave it to you so we didn't have to put up with your terrible computer.
  • No one cares about your box house.
  • If you spent less than an hour on something, unless it's a WIP, don't post it.
  • If you spend less than a day on any application for MotE, RotB, or USSR, don't post it. Randy, VerticalHorizon, and Facechild (respectively) will hate you.
  • You are not the first person to do pong.
  • No one cares about your box house.

General Discussion / RtB 2 release date?
« on: October 06, 2008, 07:07:47 AM »
I'm sorry, I never caught wind of the release date and couldn't find it after digging for a bit.

Can someone give me the release date, then I'll lock this?

Gallery / SirMu bank tower (exterior is done)
« on: October 05, 2008, 06:58:06 PM »
(Before you ask, SirMu- sirrus mutual, like WaMu)

Anyway, this is deeply WIP. I'm posting it here mostly to get creative input. I thought this up while I was in the shower, and quickly threw this together to get my ideas down on... block.

Anyway, this should be loosely based around the Price Tower by Frank Lloyd Wright, but looking at pictures of it after I started construction on mine, I know that it's not going to turn out anything like that.

Picture time!

The front, again, realize that this is WIP.

The deeply un-inspired backside. In the finished version, this is going to have parking and whatnot, but as of the building itself, I'm thinking of bumping the elevator shaft out a brick or two and seeing how that turns out.

Input is welcomed on what to do in the back.

In terms of the front, I'm going to possibly do windows at that white space and then reign it back in the next floor up. This might repeat depending on how much interior I feel like doing :P The space over the step up will be a balcony type area.

Again, just so that you can't miss it...

Suggestions & Requests / OnPlayerTouch that only gets called once.

Name says it all. I'd like to have an input event for a minifig touching a block and it sends it once, and doesn't repeat.
