( a few notes, first of all, the tower has control over the landing lights & eventually the ability to clear flights to take off. There's a stairway inside the tower base, and those hangars are cookie-cutter which may or may not change. )

I also ( might ) do a terminal, or something to set this apart from other airports.

EDIT:
I'm a freaking idiot. I forgot to save my work and have no intentions of rebuilding what I lost. So as of now, this is the sirrus landing strip, with a control tower for some reason.

Suggestions & Requests / Copying wrench changes without sending.

When working with a large scale of bricks that I need to name or apply a wrench event to, I find that it's tedious, even with the copy box checked, to apply names, lights, emmiters, etc. to a brick. This gets even worse when you need to apply a wrench event to several bricks. There should be a tool of some sort that cuts out having to go through the dialog and immediately applies the name or event.

Help / Arm/fire/disarm missile system.
« on: August 21, 2008, 12:06:15 AM »
Hello blockland community.
I've been on-and-off working on a missile system that needs to be armed to be fired once, disarmed and re-armed before a second firing, and so on so that the sequence is always arm>fire>disarm repeat.

However, I've been having some problems. I'll just post a screenie of the events.

Clan Discussion / MPoB- Massive Projects of Blockland
« on: August 20, 2008, 11:15:26 PM »

Massive Projects of Blockland.

Goal
Massive Projects of Blockland is a clan focused on the planning, creation, and construction of truly massive projects.

Clan Structure
The clan will be built around the team members. Once we have the team members needed for a project, we'll vote on a real building already made, or create something new. We'll work together, every step of the way, from the earliest planning stages to the final bricks.

Rules
All general rules apply here. Be a constructive member of the team, don't be rude and just have a positive attitude.

Admittance to clan.
Because a team needs different elements to function, it's fairly easy to get into the clan as long as you have a general mastery of an element of Blockland. These are the numbers I'm looking at. Feel free to apply for multiple positions. Numbers are flexible based on response, so if a section is filled that's your primary interest, feel free to contact me.-

Administrative members. (will oversee construction, make sure the building is forming up nicely, and just makes sure the project runs smoothly)
1. Myself
2.
3.

Planning members. (members to get an idea of what we need to build and how we're going to build it.)
1. Myself
2.
3.

Builders. (Each builder should have a specialty, the four that I'm looking at are foundation and surrounding area, general shape of the building, exterior features (needs to be precise) and finally a catch all guy to help out around the site.
1.
2.
3.
4.

Server hosts. (someone who will create and maintain the server, dedicated or otherwise)
1.
2.
That's about it. We won't specifically need a different player to fill each spot, so sign up for what you want to do. The numbers are a  bare minimum, so, again, even if all the spots are taken, we could always use more hands!

Final notes.
This is more of a team effort, and less of a clan. It's fine to join (unless your clan doesn't allow) to work on a project temporarily, but I'd also like to have some permanent members.

Teamspeak 2 for voice chat would be a plus, but if not, it could probably be coordinated through in-game messaging.

And I think that's all I have right now. I look forward to working with everyone!

Alright, I've taken the formula from my old house/outpost thingy and applied to a smaller, more compact house. I think the aesthetics are much better on a smaller scale, and I also significantly fleshed out the porch.

x/10 and C & C, please.

SCROLL DOWN FOR NON-FUZZY PICTURES

-quick note on the pictures.-
It was built in Slate, but I imported it to Kitchen for a nice backdrop.
Also note that I haven't finished painting it, or rather, I haven't started. If you would, suggestions on the color, please?

The front of the house with me modeling the wraparound porch.

The side of the house. Nothing special that you won't get in the other pictures.

The backside of the house, nicely displaying the back porch & chimney.

The... other backside of the house. Shows the end of the wraparound porch and a view of the kitchen window.

This was the original that I got the idea from. I included it just to show you the difference in sizes. This green abomination was built on a 64x64 plate, whereas the house displayed here is on a 32x32 plate (not including garage and porch.)

I also plan on applying to a clan with the houses pictured in pictures 1-4, any suggestions on which clan would take it, or what I could change to get into a bigger clan?

Or something like that.
I got that when I loaded up a server, I don't know if it's all servers, but what does this mean and how do I fix it?

General Discussion / SEVERAL Wrench questions.
« on: August 16, 2008, 09:33:21 AM »
First of all, I love the wrench system, however, I feel like there's so much more and so many better ways that I could be using it, but I don't know how to work half the stuff, and another fourth I don't even know what it does. So here are some of the questions I have.

First of all, what is ToggleEventEnabled (or something like that, if you wrench the light in trial limit, it's in there with the parameter 1 2 3 4 5)

Secondly what is OnRelay?

and second point fively, what is Relay?

numbah three, that is PrintCount(under/over)flow?

What is Ray Casting?

What is BurnPlayer and what is ClearBurn?

Is it possible to toggle a brick being disappeared,  and how do I set up something so that I have to readied, or armed before it can be fired, and then has to be disarmed and re-armed before being able to be fired again? (and again, cannot be armed twice and must be fired after being armed, etc.)

General Discussion / The Bank of Blockland challenge
« on: August 13, 2008, 04:21:14 PM »
Hello fellow blocklandians! I have constructed a bank in which the route to the safe I have deemed un-crackable! Un-beatable! Virtually bank-robber free!

Our premises on the beautiful emerald isles

However, before we begin filling it with the hard-earned blocks of this game's fine residents, we want to make sure that it is virtually impossible for anyone without prior knowledge of the bank to break in.

[[THE CHALLENGE]]
Be the first to crack the bank security system. The first mega-thief will get the honor of having his screen-name permanently displayed in the map file for thiefs down the road to admire.

[[RULES OF THE CHALLENGE]]
First of all, practice practice practice until you get to the end, once you have the bank cracked, do the following.

Start blockland and begin a video recording immediately. Load Emerald Isles, load the map file, and begin a mini-game with the following settings.

Once you reach the end and record the inside of the vault, end the recording, upload it to youtube or other video hosting website, and PM me the code found inside the vault, and the link to the video.

Once I have verified that all portions of what you did were legit, I'll post in the thread that there was a winner and put the name of the person who cracked it into the map, and re-host the save file in the thread!

So, what are you waiting for?

Suggestions & Requests / Destroyable (destructable?) blocks.

I think that their should be an option for mini-games to set it so that bricks don't re-spawn.
Or is this already possible?

Suggestions & Requests / the Universal Community Grounds - UCG
« on: June 10, 2008, 09:54:28 PM »
Okay, I don't know how far-fetched this would be, but I have a small proposition to re-work how the game operates on an online community level.

My idea, while it would be hard to be re-worked, is a simple one. Create a new mode called the UCG where there would be a world where everyone spawns. It would be either the construct, or a massive terraform map, that everyone builds in. There would be a pre-made city for all game related matters, like a building where you could apply for a building permit. A building where you could buy weapons, a place where you can work for money, apply for a clan to help build and be rewarded money. But out from this central city, it there would be near limitless building area for someone to build a house. A clan could start a small town and grow it up to a massive city, and connect it via roads and highways to surrounding towns, in other words, a massive dedicated RPG server with new systems including money, and justice (i.e. shooting someone outside of say a war zone [clan rivalry anyone?])

Maybe this is kind of out there. Maybe the requirements far outweigh the rewards of a new type of building community, but I think we can make it work.

Requirements:
  • At the very minimum, a new mode and a terraformed map.
  • New systems inluding money, justice, and building zones.
  • Changes in the code of this server to cut down on the massive lag that's probable.

Pros:
  • A new kind of online community that the internet has never seen before.
  • A massive RPG, almost second-life esqe, interactive online building experience.

Cons:
  • Would take forever to re-work code and game systems to allow something like this to function well.

How to get it done:
  • Create the said systems and set up game to include UCG option on main menu, in addition to the option do regular online play.
  • Hype the system and advertise it to make the idea seam worth $20 to everyone else on the internet, Badspot prophets and the UCG flourishes.

Again, this might just be a thing of dreams, but I think if we pull together as a community we can make it work, do all the coding, the mapping, and then all we need to do is get Badspot to implement it into V8.

So, what do you think?

703
These are always fun  :cookieMonster:
I'll start you out with five

1. When you think spraycans are multiple colors.
2. When you're amazed that TV screens do not in fact, wave and pulsate.
3. When you think wrenches will give you the power to rule the world.
4. When you try and press ctrl + a when someone is being an idiot.
5. When you go into your school and ask for admin privileges, when you are turned down, mumble something about going to a different server as you walk off.

So the next person start with 6

Gallery / The Sirrus Residence - a WiP
« on: May 20, 2008, 08:55:18 PM »
Nestled deep inside a canyon in Colony Canyons, The Sirrus Residence is my current masterwork, with a definite 30+ hours logged in making this, in my opinion, my best work. feel free to give an x/10, along with constructive criticism.
And note: I know it's spammy.

The house rising from the depths of the canyon, about 140-150 feet if my calculations are correct

The residence was lit during exterior construction with the Sun, but was eventually changed to small exterior light fixtures for aesthetics and lag reduction

The main tower is 13 floors high, rising about 90' out of the craterous canyon

The observation deck adds a solid 30'-40' to the height of the residence

The complex is comprised of the main tower, four storage rooms on the back, two garages on the side, a training room extending off the fourth floor of the storage tower, and a training complex wrapping around underneath the training room around to the north side of the tower

The four vehicle lower garage consists of a go-kart, jeep, stunt buggy, and a moped with a separate exit.

A bi-plane is also parked above the four cars.

The four story training complex consists of a series of platforms and barriers where bots can be spawned to hone skills

The training room can have barriers placed to one's preferences and bots spawned for CQC training

A robust and abundant weapons room can be found on the fourth floor of the storage tower.

Moving inside the residence tower, a cozy first floor features a fireplace, couch, and a place to set your shoes.

Moving up to the second floor, a small kitchen awaits you.

Moving yourself, and the food, up, a robust dining room featuring seating for ten awaits.

After eating, a small and comfortable library awaits you.

My penthouse bedroom, featuring only a large bed and beautiful views, is located on the top floor.

And finally, the Pièce de résistance, a small observation deck offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape, drawing flush with the canyon.

So that's it as of now. Tell me what you think.

If someone could give me a step-by-step instruction installing and running the mission editor, or link to one, that would be greatly appreciated.
