Rift has built upon and improved it. They have the new rift and invasion and conquest system with dynamic worlds. If you ignore the invasions they eventually take over and destroy towns and multiply larger and larger. The invasions and conquests are also pretty unique and the most fun I've ever had in an MMO. So I would like to know what you classify as building upon and improving it?

Also WoW is the poster boy of unoriginality. The only thing they have that they didn't steal is the dungeon finder tool and cross server play, which is more of a convenience than an improvement, and it was merely to make up for the fact that no one dungeons or PVPs under 85 because they gave no motivation to do so. I can't name anything else WoW has that wasn't in previous games. Also to assume WoW is popular because it is a model MMO is stupid, it is popular because it is insanely easy and easy is what the majority wants. WoW even added achievements solely because WAR came out and everyone loved the achievement system it had.

We aren't talking about FPS games? You could use the same brown townogy for FPS games, but it was used specifically for MMORPGs. In fact, you could use that brown townogy for a lot of things because it's an brown townogy for a concept. He's literally saying that developers need to stop making the same basic thing without expanding upon it and making it something unique.

All MMOs I have ever seen built upon the foundation, that is how it works. Rift added Rifts/invasions/conquests and that is their ace up the sleeve. If you want them to completely rebuild the foundation that makes no sense. The foundation is what makes something what it is. Here is a properly uses brown townogy to show you stupid your brown townogy is:

All cars have the same foundation, they have wheels and a place for you to sit in them, they have a steering wheel, they have pedals to go and stop, and they have brakes. Most people would argue that all cars are basically the same except in appearance, but some cars cost a lot more, usually because of minor details like more power, more electronics, or more luxuries. No one would argue that we should completely redo the basics of cars and get rid of the wheels and the cab and the pedals, because they are necessary in order to be considered cars.

Well I don't have any facts or evidence to prove Rift is a Wow clone, so look at it like this:

MMORPGs are brick walls, and no matter what a brick wall looks like, it is still a brick wall. So MMORPGs are brick walls and they all look different but they are still MMORPGs. Wait that goes against my argument, okay MMORPGS are all brick walls, and all brick walls do the same thing(well I guess they don't do anything they are just brick walls), so all MMORPGs are the same even if they are different. You understand why Rift is a WoW clone now?

Based on your previous statements regarding it, it's not that easy to grasp (i.e. comparing your hotel and hospital brown townogy to rky's brick wall brown townogy).

Literally look at it this way:

You have a foundation (the MMORPG "recipe" if you will, or the brickwall).

You build on that foundation to make it something new/different (for the brick wall, you build a hospital or hotel, using the elements of your previous incorrect brown townogy comparison).

If the foundation is the only real part of the structure, then all the structures are pretty much the same, a foundation. Doesn't matter what shape or colour or material that foundation is, it's still the foundation.

It may not be perfect, but it works for it's intended purpose.

It's function. A brick wall always functions as a brick wall, but a hospital and hotel have very specific functions.

A brick wall can function as a barrier, as a visual piece, as an obstacle in an obstacle course, as a monument to an event. By your logic that a brick wall always function as a brick wall, a shelter always functions as a shelter, like a hospital and a hotel. The brown townogy is handicapped can you just grasp that? Also to quote that link you didn't want to read:

Quote
The flaw is simple: the brown townogy always breaks down somewhere. If the brown townogy breaks down, the conclusion the arguer is trying to draw from the brown townogy just doesn’t follow. That’s all there is to it. Argument by brown townogy is rarely as good as an argument by logic, evidence or facts. Clearly if the arguer had any logic, evidence or facts to support his case he would present them. That he resorts to argument by brown townogy shows his argument is probably devoid of logic, evidence or facts.

His brown townogy is easy to grasp, but it isn't a valid argument.

Some prick in my school called Daniel Lewidon's aunt slit her wrists and died, He brought it up because I called my friend Alexander Chapman an emo. Dun give a stuff. She was probably emo too, Having a grandson like him.
Yay for giving out real life names.

I pretty much hate when people do stuff like that. You say like "Wow that is gay" and some idiot is like "OMG MY SISTER IS GAY WHY YOU GOTTA BE SO HEARTLESS!" Most people would be like "Omg I am so sorry!" but since I consider it a bitch move I say something more like "Well your sister is a dumb whore and I don't give a forget."

Alright? I said newer, not older. The only MMO I know of that doesn't have non-instanced housing, that is new, is Darkfall. However, Darkfall is different.

So if rift had houses it wouldn't be a WoW clone?

UO had non-instanced player housing and was before Tibia. Also had the full looting, sounds like Tibia is a UO clone.

I could really bold my entire quote since it's all applicable.

Of course they all need to have the "brick wall" but they don't need to just leave it as that. I've personally been finding every new MMO I've tried to be boring because they seem to be too similar to WoW and I'm bored of WoW. They try to be WoW because WoW is successful.

They don't leave it at just that, are you blind? The only thing Rift has thats the same as WoW is everything that EVERY mmorpg has ever had and every MMORPG will ever have. I want you to name one thing they could add to the game that wouldn't make it a WoW clone, because apparently as long as it has a GUI and the theme of questing/leveling/dungeoning it is the exact same game. Also you're a newcigarette of sorts to MMOs and WoW was probably your first, but when WoW came out everyone was calling it EQ lite and how it was just an EQ1 clone with baby cartoon graphics. It had the leveling, it had the questing, it had the dungeoning, it was the exact same game.

Nobody actually cares if someone they don't know dies. It is just high school politics, girls will start to act all sad for free attention, guys will start to act sad to have a reason to be with the girls and to try to make them like them, anyone who doesn't pretend to be sad will be outcasted and will decide to pretend to be sad to get back in the loop. Sheep will be sheep. I would never feel sad if someone died I would only feel sad if I am going to miss the person that died. I've been to a lot of family funerals for family members I never met and I didn't care one bit. When my grandpa died who was pretty much my favorite person then I was super sad. And it still haunts me a bit at times the last time I went into his room and he was almost dead and as I walked out he just said "be good to your parents" and I stopped realizing he was basically saying he was about to die, but I just kept walking.

The idea is that the brick wall is the foundation to have something built from it. Developers need to take the MMORPG and build upon it, not just keep remaking the same thing.

But the brickwall is kind of required or it isn't an MMORPG. If I decided to make an RTS game but didn't want to be a follower and decided to make it an RTS where you are in first person and instead of having all those dumb structures and army units you just played 1 character and that character had a leveling system because RTS games usually don't have leveling systems it would no longer be an RTS. I mean starcraft 2 and warhammer 40k are the exact same things, sure they have a few minor differences but in the end they have the same basics and offer nothing new to the table.

Rkynick makes it clear he hates MMORPGs and therefore feels every MMORPG company should be striving to make a new genre that he will find fun. He can't grasp the concept that people play MMORPGs to level and dungeon and quest and raid, and as long as the content is different people will enjoy it.

tl;dr Rkynick hates MMORPGs and is totally confused as to why MMORPG companies aren't making MMOFPS or MMORTS games. I'd like to hear of any genre where every game isn't the same at a basic level.

I dunno rkynick is so sure calling MMOs brick walls is a genius and perfect infallible argument so I'm just messing with him.

You are just incredibly stupid.
A hospital serves a different function than a hotel and they both look very different and are full of very different equipment.
Contrast, a brick wall is the exact same loving thing as a brick wall regardless of how you slice it.
You've ignored a point that I specifically made to counteract this stupid 'argument' of yours;

The point is that they need to be working at higher levels than they are, and at these lower levels everything is basically the same and the differences don't amount to enough to be meaningful.
You're going far out of your way to try to defeat the brown townogy by exaggerating it, which isn't going to do much of anything. I made clear, concise, and, arguably, meaningful points which you are completely ignoring. This leads me to believe that you have no argument at all, and no basis for your statements.

My points still stand. I should like to see you actually tell me why I'm wrong rather than picking specific and stupid exaggerations out of the brown townogy I used.

Furthermore to comment on something you said earlier,
Yeah that's not even close to what I'm saying.
I would clarify, but what I'm saying should be obvious.

A hospital and a hotel are both built only to shelter things. Sure people put different stuff in them but their only purpose is shelter :)

I didn't say "whole number", there is no number in existence between X.999... repeating and X+1. This is not the case for any other number there is. まほ~

Although you're right that .9 repeating is 1, saying it is because there is no number between it and 1 is why is completely wrong.
