A tablet is pretty nice for sculpting.
pretty nice? It's hands down mandatory for sculpting.

Tommy, do you ever use your tablet for working in Blender? Do you use the texture paint feature there or do you unwrap your models and paint in Photoshop?
I paint textures in photoshop

Any tips on transitioning to tablet/digital works?

I've got "plenty" of experience when it comes to traditional art, taken art classes since they were available in school (Not that that means much hah).

That and I'd appreciate a thought on how you think your game design images through, as well as your perspective on character design.

It's vague but I generally like all of your ideas, just want to know more about how you get them.

try scanning and drawing/painting over them
I haven't really transitioned traditional to digital in ages
using a tablet can also take some getting used to, drawing on plastic is really different from drawing on paper.

in other news here's that titan print progress so far

SO YOU WANT TO BE AN ARTIST?

Well have I got the thread for you! First off there are tons of definitions of art and artist.
I will typically be covering Illustration, and maybe 3D, so writers and composers?
I can't help you here, everyone else still reading lets get started.

What exactly is this thread for?
I seem to get a LOT of questions about art and the likes.
Basically this is a revised art thread and a shared space of the resources I have.
Any questions you have i'll try and answer them to the best of my ability.

Tools
I will be covering digital art specifically but traditional art is also welcome
I use a tablet for all my drawings, an Intuos 5 specifically, Wacom products are pricey though so if you want a cheaper, effective alternative I suggest a Monoprice
The software I use includes Photoshop, Sai, Blender, Zbrush, and a bit of Maya, and no they are not all free.

Your face is still concave. What sculpting program do you use?
I think his problem is that he's sculpting anime girls in stead of an actual human face, best way to do faces is to understand haw they're constructed, before going into stylization
