bruh at this point you might as well buy the noodles yourself, it looks like you have most of the stuff in the seasoning packets other than the MSG and buying the noodles themselves is probably cheaper... just go to 99 ranch lol

that sounds terrible and kind of a waste
if he can do that, he should be able to just do it on his phone, maybe plug in a keyboard if need be

actually come to think of it, there isn't much that can't just be done a phone
since google docs is a thing for documents/spreadsheets/presentations
and juicessh is pretty good for sshing into a server to code on
He hasn't missed anything and honestly he stands by his decision because it limits his distractions lol
I see no waste :)

i agree with banning rom coms but the category was romance, and there are actually some great romance movies. get in a relationship and watch that stuff yo, hits hard when you relate

of these i'm not a fan of horror, there are some good but most are just stupid

Off Topic / Re: How do you like your job?

i tutor for a CS class at my college

pay is pretty decent for a college job ($16+/hr) and theyre hella understanding of class conflicts and stuff so it's really no effort at all. also everyone's super nice, i really can't wait until our first staff outing :')

Chinese gold farmer?
he would go fishing for hours at a time and every time he got a "perfect" or what the forget ever (i assume its timing based) he would yell "perfect!!" so that all his friends would know that he caught that fish especially well

how did you make it through freshman year lol
probably lottery'd a good room lol

66
soundproof headphones plugged into your alarm
i did this my entire freshman year, worst case they fall out and you have the alarm play over both headphones and speaker, 0% miss rate

and honestly? as annoying as your situation sounds, you're not alone and i almost feel like i had worse. Yeah your roommate brings friends home (is that really that much of an issue? at least you haven't been loveiled yet..? it's his room too) and plays music... it doesn't sound like he's personally keeping you up all night (for reference, my roommate kept the overhead light on until 3 or 4 am every night and played BDO, screaming in chinese all night)... so... idk what to tell you dude. best you can do is confront him about your concerns, because from my understanding you haven't talked to him about it at all and have just posted about it here (maybe i'm wrong here, if i am then shrug. sometimes you gotta deal with these things).

On other fronts, I feel like your best move is to drop some cash on a cheap notebook laptop and just get work done at libraries. i don't know what your major is but generally they can handle most school assignments (my friend has gotten through 3 years of a cs major on a $130 laptop that can't even run hearthstone), and yes, you won't have access to your desktop at all times but worst case you can set up remote desktop or something.

and finally in regards to A/C... remember that you're in an entire building of people who are likely suffering just as much as you. yes, there may be other buildings with AC, but unfortunately that's the way life is sometimes, and people can't accommodate your every whim because believe it or not there are a bunch of other people who would gladly switch buildings as well. It just doesn't make sense to me to complain that you're not being switched when i'm sure there are at least 100 other people who would want to.

and ninja: i realize this is coming off as passive aggressive as forget but we had someone on my floor in freshman year that complained about a lot of things like this so... it's a bit of a pet peeve

i didn't think of the ** thing and i didn't want to have it as a function because that stuff takes about 50 years to type out compared to the 1 nanosecond it takes to type something like ^ or **
I meannn. Yes? But do you anticipate doing power operations ~that~ much? 'cause I can tell you I barely use them and when I do I might as well be typing out pow(b, x)...

Also have you looked into the process of actually creating compilers and stuff rather than evaluating the language entirely in Java? I know it's a lot more work but honestly it's a lot more useful in terms of learning and might require a lot more background knowledge but it's a really rewarding process. I'm in a class that helps build that knowledge right now so if you ever wanted to talk about it I'd be down to talk, but we're gonna be making a compiler for the language "COOL" (click) and we've already made an interpreter for a stack machine (click) which is a good introduction to the process.

I was taught handbrake and release slowly off handbrake, as well.

if you hill start without a handbrake you need to engage the clutch slightly to where the RPM's go down and then quickly release the brake while working the clutch & gas.

source:::: my truck has no handbrake
lol yikes

What makes you think countries who hate the US are gonna care what we do?
We live in an era where I can post something and an acquaintance or even a stranger from across the world can see it instantly, if that's how I choose to share my info. Hell, I'm posting this and you'll be able to see it. The more people are supporting or accepting of us here in the US, the more people show up to Pride here and spread the message that love is love and nothing will change that, the more that closeted people across the world will have the courage to stand up for themselves and allies will have the courage to stand up for others. Because they see that, in progressive society, people are accepting. So, yes, our actions have an impact. I don't know how many people in this thread remember much about the It Gets Better Project, but it's a big reason I was comfortable enough to come out. So yes, even videos on the internet of random people you don't know have an impact on your thinking. Now imagine seeing a video of thousands of people being supportive and you have the reason Pride exists.

I'm a gay man. I don't flaunt it. If you interacted with me at a surface level on the street you'd think I'm straight as an arrow. But pride is still important for reasons beyond the way it manifests itself in US society. I'm actually pretty disappointed at how much it's turned into a party for straight people to show up and flaunt their ally status in certain cities across the US, but that's beyond the point. It's still a show of support for an under-represented community.

Also, forget you for saying we might as well should just protest at the state capitol. For one thing, that's hardly effective; protests are more effective when there's a lot of people around to witness and/or join in, and if you seriously think a bunch of people should show up to Albany instead of marching through NYC to get a message across, you're probably not that bright. But also, you and I both know that if we were protesting at state capitols, you would be in this thread saying, "shut up no one cares about your protest just live with your loveuality and move on." There would still be a Pride month to help organizing those protests, and you'd still be butthurt about it, so don't try to take the high road there.
