Off Topic / Fun fact about pickles?!
« on: February 14, 2017, 04:55:06 PM »
Pickles have been around since ancient times, although there is some disagreement as to when exactly in history people started eating them.  Some believe the first pickle was created in Mesopotamia in 2400 B.C.E. Others believe it was as early as 2030 B.C.E.

Off Topic / Finally finished my no man's sky graphics project
« on: February 11, 2017, 02:06:53 PM »
I have like 25 pages of A3 filled with planning, sketches and other things I needed to include and this is what came of it,

The task for our class was to create a 'point of sale display' which is a display which advertises and contains a certain project, and I chose no man's sky. I started this project in like may or june and worked on it slowly.

It's mostly made of 6mm MDF I laser cut. I also used one of the 6 3d printers we have for the spaceship. The stickers are made from adhesive backed vinyl, used some model trees, sand, some wavy plastic with paint underneath for the water, and some flock powder for the top. I used 2mm MDF for the shelf area and it's all stuck together with copydex, hot glue and the finger joints. Oh and I used modelling board cut with a band saw, primer'd and painted for the Atlas. The logo is adhesive backed vinyl stuck onto laser cut white acrylic held up with some brass rods I sawed into 3 pieces and glued in with adhesive backed vinyl. It's hollow, so I used some blue foam to make it stronger.

I also 3D modelled it, but made some last minute changes since.

I would've painted or at least treated the wood had I known we were given a 3 week extension on the build.

For the xbox 360 boxes, I just got old xbox 360 game boxes I had and printed a custom no man's sky sleeve to slip in the sleeve area.

On the opposite side to where you can see the playstation logo, there is a steam logo sticker

For scale, the distance from the back (where the logo is stuck) to the front bit where the games are is 30cm

Games / Skate 4 - Possibly Announced?
« on: January 29, 2017, 08:46:18 AM »

It's been almost 7 years, however the senior manager at EA tweeted: "#skate4"

Since the collapse of EA Black Box there was not another Skate game recently, so will there be another EA division working on Skate 4? Are EA Black Box back? Will EA buy another small development company and forget them over?

May be a goof/ gaffe but if it is real, it better not be another THPS5!

Games / Is Rust getting laggier?
« on: January 16, 2017, 10:15:38 AM »
When I first got Rust in like June, I was able to get a solid 60 FPS on the Beautiful setting, whereas now, on the Simple setting, I'm getting 30 - 60, like 15 on the Beautiful, why can't I run it well anymore? Have the updates made it laggier? My PC isn't even a year old and I built it myself.

Games / Pit People (New Early Access Game by The Behemoth)
« on: January 14, 2017, 08:18:27 AM »

-

Pit People is a new RPG released as Early Access by The Behemoth, the creators of Castle Crashers, Battleblock Theater & Alien Hominid. Quite a few people have described it as Pokemon and Civilization together. It's got loads of different modes, and is just really fun!

It is currently £10.99 in the UK and $14.99 in the US, (which means it's technically cheaper in the UK since £10.99 = $13.39). The price will rise once it is out of Early Access however.

About a year ago I stumbled upon this 6 year old (fake) video about an ARG that's really awesome:

Adding to the production, they even re-created Fortress' videos by making a channel!

Games / The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Remastered
« on: October 25, 2016, 10:42:16 AM »
I got Skyrim a while back, and I hated it so much. It was glitchy and annoying as hell. I ran away from a guard which worked, I didn't see him for another 45 minutes, then he suddenly appeared and killed me. One mission took me 5 hours of doing it over and over again because my weapons weren't powerful enough it seemed (I had to kill 3 armoured guards at once), I spent 2 hours trying to walk to the next mission as a dragon kept following me and killing me, and my under powered weapons couldn't do anything, and most of the time, the mission markers were messed up.

So how can I enjoy this game or become good at it, because every YouTuber I watch playing Skyrim never have these problems, I spent FIVE hours on one mission.
