Modification Help / "Looping" something in the bottom print?
« on: June 09, 2011, 12:35:45 AM »
I'm trying to figure out how you can keep something in the bottom print... Seeing as a regular function (function displayscore(%client) { stuff...) didn't do it for me, I'm wondering how you can keep something in the bottom print.

Comes out with "Syntax Error on line 94!" which has the -- by it.

I don't understand how it comes out to a syntax error. And if there is any way to simplify the case stuff, then please tell me.

Modification Help / Making a .dts to .obj converter in Blockland.
« on: May 21, 2011, 12:02:47 PM »
We all (at least people who work with models) know that getting a .dts into .obj is hard/impossible, mainly because Shaper is the only program that allows the conversion. Doing a little research I found this. I attempted to add it into Blockland and get this error in my console...

Code: [Select]
Executing base/models/exportscript.cs.
base/models/exportscript.cs Line: 2 - Syntax error.
>>> Some error context, with ## on sides of error halt:
onsoleFunction(dumpDTStoObj, void, 3, 3, "(string objfile, string dts)");

{##
##
    Resource<TSShape> shape;

    shape = ResourceManager->load(argv[2]);

    const char * str;

    if(shape.isNull())

        return;

    TSShapeInstance *shapeinst = new TSShapeInstance(shape, true);

    if(!shapeinst)

        return;
>>> Error report complete.
Are the commands even supported in Blockland? If so, how would you import this into Blockland?

Off Topic / First Water Jetpack: Jetlev
« on: May 19, 2011, 07:23:05 PM »

You have been dreaming about flying a personal jetpack for way too long. Your wait is finally over!

Jetlev Technologies, Inc. is proud to introduce the Jetlev R200, the recreational jetpack that almost anyone can enjoy over water. It is designed for safety, stability, ease-of-use, and precise and effortless flight controls. Learn basic flight with video-assisted training on land and as little as six minutes of on-water instructions.

No other flying device even comes close to the Jetlev R200’s stability, agility and ease of use. Feel as one with the jetpack when you fly, and experience levitation flight so stable that you feel as if you are suspended on cables. The three-dimensional degree of freedom will thrill and enthrall you like nothing else you have ever experienced. You can fly over deep open water with the assurance that it is one of the safest power sports ever invented. The Jetlev R200 will forever change our pre-conceived notions about personal flight!
So the first water jetpack was made public. Available for a hefty price of $100,000+, but looks really cool to ride. As said above, it has stability, agility, and ease of use as well as top-notch safety. It has been approved by the US Coast Guard to be used in water. The water it shoots out is safe to put your hand in without hurting it (as seen in the video). It propels itself through the volume of water it shoots out. The water is supplied by connecting the tube to a boat, where the boat pumps the water in so it's still slighty limited, but it's still really cool.

The shipping process has four stages. The first will deliver 20 Jetlevs (the top 20 payers), taking place in April-May. The second will deliever 70 Jetlevs (top 70 payers), taking place in May-June. The third will deliver 200 Jetlevs (top 200 payers), taking space in June-September. After that, they follow a regular delivery schedule.

If you somehow can afford it, check this out.
I want one. What do you guys think?

This will achieve your dreams of real-life Super Mario Sunshine.

;)

FAQ:

FAQ

Q:  What is it like to fly?
A:   There are three unique sensations when you fly the Jetlev. The most intriguing sensation is the feeling of weightlessness. As soon as sufficient lift is applied, you and the jetpack become weightless and levitate in the air, and even small amounts of force will move or turn you. You will feel some pressure from the saddle and the trapeze, but usually no more than from riding a bicycle. The second unique sensation is suspended height. Even if you are an airplane or helicopter pilot, few have ever experienced the sensation of being suspended up to three-storey high with no visible support from above or beneath your feet. 30 feet may not sound very high but it can seem a lot higher in a jetpack, and the unique perspective from that height is incredible. The third unique sensation is the absolutely amazing three dimensional freedom of movement. Once you learn how to fly, you can travel in any direction, at any height, and at any speed that the system will carry you. With a thrust-to-weight ratio of up to 2.5:1 at the water, there is nothing else that can come close to its agility.

Q:  Can the water jets hurt my arms and legs?
A:   The pressure in the nozzles could reach 60 psi (only slightly higher than municipal pressures), but because of high flow rates, it may cause low-level pain and bruising in the arms, so one should not place hands or arms in the jets. Unlike pressure washers which operate between 1,800 to over 3,000 psi, our jets are far from being strong enough to be effective as an exfoliation or hair removal tool. By the time it has traveled 30 feet or 8.5 m, the water stream has broken up into droplets and slowed down substantially and have little impact force.

Q:  Is it very noisy?
A:   The jetpack itself has no engine and no moving parts other than the articulated thrust assembly. There is a small nozzle hiss, and the water jets do make splashing sounds when they enter the water. The boat unit has better sound insulation than a standard personal watercraft, and uses a four stroke engine with noise abatement systems. The Jetlev is generally quieter than a comparable personal watercraft.

Q: What measures are used to prevent corrosion and clogging of cooling passages in the engine?
A: The engine uses a closed loop cooling system similar to car engines, using a high quality stainless steel internal heat exchanger to dissipate heat into the surrounding water. Raw water never enters the engine, but is used to cool the heat exchanger, engine air intake intercooler, and exhaust cooling system.

Q:  What happens if I fall?
A:   Even if you fall from the maximum height of 30 feet or 8.5 m, you will be entering the water at less than 30 mph, and all body parts will be slowing down together gradually by drag from the water. You will be protected by the saddle, back rest, body harness, PFD, and other protective equipment. Hundreds of times each year, thousands of platform divers jump from 10 m, or 33 feet, with no protective equipment, and few serious injuries occur. Remember that it is how quickly your body slows down in a fall, not how fast you are going, which determines the risk and severity of injuries. It is important to fly only over deep water and stay well away from the boat unit while in flight. While it will still be a much softer landing than falling on land, you could sustain injuries if you fall on the boat unit.

Q:  Are there any age limits?
A:   Yes. You must be 18 years or over. If you are over 18 and younger than 22, you must have a valid boating license. The oldest Jetlev pilot to-date was 67. If you are 82, healthy and in good physical condition, there is no reason why you could not fly.

Q:  What qualifications do I need to fly?
A:   You must be a good swimmer, and should not feel uncomfortable having your face in the water from time to time. You should not have a fear of heights. You should be in good health and physical condition. You should have no history of any heart conditions and flying is not advised for women who are pregnant. You must also have good vision and be able to understand the instructor.

Q:  What if I wear prescription glasses or contacts?
A:   You must have clear vision in order to fly. If you wear prescription glasses, you should use sport straps to secure them. Whether you use prescription glasses or contacts, you should wear a full visor safety helmet to help prevent losing your visual aids.

Q:  Is it very uncomfortable, and do I have to be strong to fly?
A:   No. Unlike parasailing or parachute harnesses, your weight is supported by the padded unicycle-style saddle and leg trapeze. If you lean forward during flight, part of your weight is also supported by the 5-point harness system. Your arms only need to apply a few ounces of effort to control the control arms (which in turn deflect the nozzles). Some pilots report sore arms and shoulders after the first flight because they tense up all these muscles in flight. The more relaxed you are, the less effort you will feel.
Q:  How long does it take to learn to fly?
A:   Our training system has made it very easy to learn to fly.  How quickly you learn depends a lot on your willingness to accept new things, your aptitude with sports that require some weight shifting, and how well you learn from the training video. A qualified instructor can teach a new pilot to fly unassisted in as little as 6 minutes, but most take a little longer. Even though some will learn to fly better and higher than others, everyone will have a fantastic levitating experience on the first flight. You don’t even have to leave the water to enjoy the experience.

Q:  Why is the Jetlev so stable?
A:   Considering how flexible the pilot’s body is, the Jetlev’s amazing inherent stability is incredible and it is all achieved through clever design. The bilateral nozzles are positioned higher than your center of gravity, so your body behaves like a pendulum or hanging flower pot. The nozzles are also designed to counteract against rolling motion from side-to-side. The hose and water inside it adds a great deal of extra weight below your center of gravity, so the higher you fly, the more roll stability you have. In forward motion, drag from the hose provides a third stabilizing point, ensuring stable forward motion. Finally, the jetpack’s rigid back rest, saddle and body harness keep your upper torso rigid while the trapeze prevents your legs from flailing in the air.

Q:  Would the hose feel very restricting?
A:   The hose is the unsung hero of the Jetlev system. It serves a number of very important functions besides supplying power for your flight. It limits your altitude within a safer range, provides lateral roll stability, and greatly enhances forward flight stability. At constant speeds, you would not feel the weight or drag from the hose while it silently helps make your flight easy and enjoyable.

Q: Can the Jetlev operate on salt water?
A: Yes, the Jetlev is designed to operate on salt water with corrosion resistant features. All exposed metal parts are made of quality stainless steel or hard coat anodized aluminum to provide years of reliable service. However, we highly recommend proper maintenance to extend the life of your Jetlev system, including flushing the exhaust cooling system and rinsing the boat unit with fresh water inside and out to prevent salt deposits.

Modification Help / Script being obnoxious?
« on: April 28, 2011, 11:49:46 PM »
Alright, so I'm making a script for a Gun Game so I don't have to event it all. But the script is being uncooperative and I can't find out why. When I type /gungameon nothing happens and I checked the console.log and found this...
Code: [Select]
function serverCmdgungameon(%client)

{

^if(%client.isSuperAdmin)

^^{

^^^chatMessageAll(%client, "\c6Gun Game Enabled!", 3);

^^^activatePackage(GunGame);

^^}

};##
##

function serverCmdgungameoff(%client)

{

^if(%client.isSuperAdmin)

^^{

^^^deactivatePackage(GunGame);

^^^chatMessageAll(%client, "\c6Gun Game Disabled!", 3);

^^}

};

package GunGame

{^^

^function twoscore(%client,%player)

^{

^^if(%client.score == 2)
>>> Error report complete.

Now if I fiddle around with the script, I end up with this...
Code: [Select]
function serverCmdgungameon(%client)

{

^if(%client.isSuperAdmin)

^^{

^^^chatMessageAll(%client, "\c6Gun Game Enabled!", 3)

^^^activatePackage(##G##unGame)

^^}

};

function serverCmdgungameoff(%client)

{

^if(%client.isSuperAdmin)

^^{

^^^deactivatePackage(GunGame);

^^^chatMessageAll(%client, "\c6Gun Game Disabled!", 3);

^^}

};

package GunGame

{^^

^function twoscore(%client,%player)

^{

^^if(%client.score == 2)
>>> Error report complete.
What am I doing wrong?

PoTATO: sure it is
PoTATO: why wouldnt it be
Daenth: wait
Daenth: no
Daenth: it would fall
Daenth: it still applies to gravity
Daenth: :u
PoTATO: yeah
PoTATO: and?
Daenth: and that's a single piece of line
Daenth: and it's a straight piece of rope
Daenth: line = rope
PoTATO: therefore its a circle!
Daenth: no?
PoTATO: yup
PoTATO: :D
PoTATO: because how do you know its not?
PoTATO: it could be either
Daenth: actually
PoTATO: like
Daenth: think of this
Daenth: one single wall
PoTATO: no YOU think of THIS
Daenth: portal on one side
Daenth: you go through
Daenth: stick middle of rope
Daenth: in portal
Daenth: like
Daenth: Center the rope
Daenth: now place portal on other side
Daenth: tie
Daenth: and
Daenth: wait
PoTATO: the portal doesnt open until there is a second
Daenth: really really really
Daenth: really
Daenth: really
Daenth: long rope
PoTATO: so anyway
PoTATO: the space between the portals is our dimension
PoTATO: by aperture definiton, these are interdimensional doors
PoTATO: so that rope could be a circle with an infinite radius
PoTATO: part of a circle*
Daenth: portals are confusing
Daenth: =/
PoTATO: 1 guy
PoTATO: 2 portals
PoTATO: if you shoot a portal in 1 mirror in front of you
PoTATO: and a portal in a mirror behind you
PoTATO: and look straight through
PoTATO: what do you see?
Daenth: ...
Daenth: my brain
Daenth: just asploded
Daenth: someone needs to go fix gmod portal gun
PoTATO: you know how parrallel mirrors create infinite loops?
Daenth: I want to see what will happen
Daenth: yeah?
PoTATO: the portals are doing the same thing, but instead of bouncing light back and forth
PoTATO: its going through 1 portal and out the other several times
PoTATO: so its like
PoTATO: ...
PoTATO: PORTALS ARE POSSIBLE
PoTATO: SOMEONE GET ME 2 THOUSAND MIRRORS AND SOME ROBOTS
Daenth: duplicated the same light...
PoTATO: not duplicated, just moved
Daenth: kind of
Daenth: I'm thinking too computery
Daenth: when I think of light going through the portal
Daenth: I instantly think, "OH THE SERVER WILL LAG AND CRASH!"
Daenth: :c
PoTATO: i showed you
PoTATO: forget
PoTATO: fuuuuccckool kids klub
Daenth: ?
PoTATO: a portal game
PoTATO: that i showed someone
PoTATO: and i found the name
PoTATO: and then forgot it
PoTATO: right
PoTATO: portalized
PoTATO: those portals transfer light

Oromis and I got into a very confusing discussion. I want to know what you guys think of this topic about portals, real-life, string inside portals, etc.

Help / Inventory doesn't appear after first spawn in minigame?
« on: April 12, 2011, 11:42:20 PM »
I've been having this issue for quite a while now and it's gotten really annoying throughout the past month. Whenever I(or someone else on the server) first spawn in a minigame, we can't have our inventory bar come down with "Q" and scrolling brings up one weapon and we can't scroll to get any other. Anyone know what causes this?

Drama / Killer2 - Known friend?
« on: April 08, 2011, 08:44:08 PM »
Just doing this because I want Killer2 off Gravity Cat's server. Yes, I know it sucks but it's the only fort wars that generates a lot of people so it's fun. I accidentally killed someone taking off with a plane then Killer2 said these and the server argued about his decision. (Don't complain about Snipping Tool, I had to do this from a friends laptop.)

The IRCs:

People who IRC'd me about the issue:

Now, one accidental teamkill. That's worth a permaban? I thought that the admins would have common sense and know it was an accident, but no... not Killer2. He wanted a "sorry" and couldn't handle being called a friend, cause your emotional feelings should allow you to use admin powers against someone.

What is up with this? I have noticed people have been trying to get their topic stickied(in bluntly obvious ways), try to create a popular topic, and steal ideas from popular topics. Why? Because they want a bigger epeen, more attention, bragging rights, or to be "respected". It ticks me off when I see a topic that is obviously made to get attention. If Megathreads were intended for a forum then why not just stick a section in for Drawings, Photographs, or even Small Builds? Games and such I have nothing to say about because they are down right stupid. Unless you think of a really witty game then it won't be successful and should not be posted.
