I had this crazy dream where every member of Nickelback was replaced with an actual musician.

To Find Alaska

This forum (I don't remember who specifically) gave me a nice logo the last time I requested one, so here's another shot.

Oh, we're progressive metal.

Off Topic / Problems with Peavey Valveking 100 amp head
« on: March 28, 2010, 02:07:29 AM »
(copypasta from peavey forum)

I bought this amp used a couple of years ago. I have been playing it through a windsor 4x12 cab, and the experience started out quite normal.

About a year ago, I noticed a few odd happenings. There was a tearing sound coming from the speakers. To test this, I also tried the Windsor head, but it only comes from the Valveking. Then, the tubes began to play dead. I would power on the amp and get the typical bad tube sound (volume instability, no gain, brash tone, popping), but after a reset and cooling off, it would be fine. This happens about once a month.

These problems were annoying, but the biggest problem is about six months old. The gain channel has begun to sound weak and thin. There is no bottom end whatsoever and the clarity is horrible. I trust my ears that it has not always sounded this way. Even with the volume up and the tubes hot, it sounds like a horrible recording. This would not confuse me so much if the clean channel did not still sound amazing.

The tubes still "die" every once and a while, the tearing sound still happens every time the amp is on although not for more than a couple of minutes, the gain channel seems to worsen over time, and the reverb has a horrible buzz when turned past 9 o' clock.

Is this simple a tube problem, or is there more to it? Assuming I need new tubes, which kind would be best suited for a higher gain or metal tone?

Experimental / Metal / Ambient

A good friend of mine (Nick Johnson) is one of the guitarists in this band, as is the bassist (Heath Brister). They're currently unsigned, but have had offers. Check them out. Their newest song is Nocturnal.

I will totally tour with them once my band finds a singist.

Heath is also the bassist for this band. These guys are signed.

Dress pants...  they're black so I wear 'em at work. They always have a bad smell to them. It's not a usual black smell... it's unique. They smell like this even right out of a wash.

I apologize to anyone else that was working or has worked on their own, but now that I have started I'm not going to stop.

Anyway, about four hours of work so far. It's 410 bricks wide at the base, 290 bricks high (currently), and will end up being about 1,010 bricks high. The brick count so far is 3,208.

It's not much to look at so far, but everything curves on both horizontal axises. It's hard as stuff.

I would give anything to feel "full" after eating. I ate a massive Hardee's (Carl's JR) meal on lunch a few hours ago, and still easily downed a Freschetta. What colleges have classes for competitive eating?

I'm 6'0" and weigh 140.

I'm never full.
