I'll wrap it with thin strips, then fill it with something like bondo and sand it smooth. After I get it smooth, I'll apply the 2,000+ "steel" plates with very thin sheet metal with adhesive backing.

The steel plates can be seen to detail in this picture. This is a 1:48 scale 18' model built by Peter Davies-Garner

Sorry for the double post. Here are some more pictures. It's turned upright now and some more forms have been secured. I've also started the filler for the very tip of the stern where it's too curvy to wrap with wooden strips.
