Tbh idk how I feel
On one hand, anyone should be able to go somewhere and get food just like anyone else
On the other, if a business wants to throw away business, both the initial refusal, and then the negative attention and boycotting that results, then they can deal with that

But in either case, allowing the discrimination of service to groups people and labeling it as "religious freedom" is moronic and disgusting

Also, who gets pizza for a wedding lol. Don't people usually get something nice?

Folie's friend made an FA post basically saying "I need to sell my fursuit and my character and all my art for college money" and "this is not an April fools joke" and artists started offering more art for her to sell and people started bidding. Then someone found out the file name said "April fools haha" and that it was a joke and everyone got mad

Krok I really would have expected better of you. I get your whole shtick of not being sorry for something you can't help. You didn't choose to be born into money. However the least you could do is not make a funny out of it, this isn't a joke for most of us this is a nightmare.

There are millions of people out there who aren't lucky enough to afford college. Selling our prized possessions becomes a last resort to keep us in school or in our homes. Some of us have to put school aside in favor of working one or two jobs to keep a roof over our heads. In my case I was denied help from a rich family member while my brother received upwards of $60,000 all because my brother has a snake and I don't.

This really isn't funny at all.

People are talking about taking out loans and borrowing money and you have one high profile artist offering commissions as help. This could have honestly gotten a lot worse if allowed to continue so I think a few people getting mad before real damage is done is the best possible outcome.

Honestly the ONLY reason I have a problem with this is she started out saying "THIS IS NOT AN APRIL FOOLS JOKE"

I think that's referring to a painting (or just a commission basically) as in you made it.

The article is specifically referring to paintings, but this copyright law applies to artwork in general.It's just what I found first, because (I'm assuming) physical paintings are the most commonly commissioned work

No, it's not. The copyright is still held by the artist, unless they specifically choose to sign it over to you

Everything else is, as I said, completely reasonable. On second thought, the fursuit head price isn't even as steep as I first thought; I frequently see premades go for quite a bit

lol selling characters is the stupidest thing ever

Selling physical pieces like badges and fursuit (although $1000 is a steep price for just a head, when it's used) makes total sense.
But for digital art, unless the artists gave her copyright ownership, she doesn't own it, and thus I'm pretty sure she doesn't have any legal right to make money "selling" it. And thus whoever buys the artwork will still not truly "own" it
