Suggestions & Requests / Re: guns that are actualey accureate

dynamic accuracy isn't that good in most cases. player hitboxes are really large so you're incentivized to always keep on the move but then your weapons have some bullstuff that makes it so walking increases your spread

its really conflicting and its a cool but inappropriate system

this is the reason why tier tactical, quake pack stuff, and khains default are rly popular. they're made for run and gun deathmatches exclusively where you'll be constantly repositioning and dodging rockets and stuff and have a chance to counterattack with some stylish flanking movement patters and other stuff. HK and stuff basically incentivize you to stay still in order to get the most benefits from the weapons which halts gameplay pace

and stuff

Who says you need to be penalized for moving?
Just penalize for spraying wildly, and allow single shots/bursts to be accurate.

Look how at Overwatch does Soldier 76.
Your aiming reticle gets wider as you hold the trigger, and shrinks back down when you release it. But there's zero penalty for any sort of movement, even jumping.
Spraying works fine at close range, when the maximum size of the reticle is still within the full size of the target's hitbox.
But at medium or long range, your bullets will just go around them unless you do controlled bursts.
Overwatch is very much a fast-paced shooter, and this works fine.

In the current state, many guns in BL are completely unusable because they're maximum spread all the time, and there's no reason to shoot single or burst

If you look at real full-auto weapons, if you hold the trigger and spray, yeah it's gonna be pretty damn inaccurate.

But if you switch it to semi auto, or just quickly tap the trigger, then it's perfectly capable of accurate fire. Not sniper rifle level accuracy, but far more than any handgun

I've never seen a BL weapon replicate good single shot/burst accuracy like this. In BL, Single shots are just as inaccurate as full spraying.

Now, having a good recoil system (meaning with each shot, the muzzle jerks up / to the side) probably wouldn't be doable in BL. But there's no reason that having a spread rate that increases/decreases as you hold the trigger would not be doable.

That, plus the fact that projectiles are just too damn slow, makes BL deathmatches really unfun to me

Off Topic / Re: why does everyone use php
« on: May 27, 2018, 02:20:11 PM »
right now the most popular programming languages are, in order, java, C, C++, python C#, VB.NET, and then PHP
and as for web frameworks (counting out client-sided ones because they're irrelevant to this comparison), we have ASP.NET, rails, ASP.NET MVC, and django, before you get to laravel, the first PHP framework in the list
That's only half the story though.
You're looking at most popular languages for all use, so of course something only used for web programming is going to fall way down that list. If you look at languages specifically for web programming, PHP is way up there
Secondly, languages aren't frameworks. ASP.NET and MVC are immensely popular as frameworks because you pretty much can't do web programming at all with C# or VB.NET without one of them. Whereas PHP has all the basic things you would need out of the box.

I'd say PHP is popular because it's open source (like the rest of the LAMP stack), can run on anything (unlike something like ASP.NET which requires a Windows server), easier to learn and start with (imo).

It's far from my favorite language, but it was the first web language I learned, and I can see why.

I've never actually owned a gun, closest thing is a BB gun my dad bought the family when I was younger.

I wouldn't mind buying some sort of rifle for med-long range (like 200-300 yard+) target shooting, but I just feel I have enough hobbies to spend my time and money on already.

So I just go to the range on occasion with some friends and shoot their guns. Last time I went, the range had this gorgeous looking black and dark metallic blue AR-15 for sale

yeah gun safes should basically be a requirement.
See, I support laws requiring safe storage, but I think full out safes are a bit overlook. They're huge, heavy, and expensive, and having the means to own a safe should not be a barrier to entry to be able to protect your and your family's lives.
Something like a locking trigger guard or a cable through the chamber/barrel may be sufficient.
Also, thinking that simply having and using the safe would fix everything is a bit naive. You also need to ensure that family members aren't able to gain access to the safe key and/or combination

But weren't the combat weapons based on the AR-15?]
Doesn't really matter. What matters is that they're very different.
But all people see is "it's black and scary looking"

This article blows. Nowhere did they mention that the shooter used a shotgun and a revolver (and homemade loving bombs) but somehow still managed to work 'combat guns' somewhere in there. Standing on the graves, as usual. They're not even hiding it anymore lmfao
Every shooting is an opportunity to push an agenda.
Also see: March For Our Lives pushing for a ban on magazines larger than ten rounds, saying the Parkland shooter wouldn't have been able to kill as many people if he had smaller magazines..... Despite the fact that the shooter used 10-round mags

anyone notice that lefties have stopped using the term "assault weapons" and instead have switched over to "guns based on combat weapons" or "combat weapons"

they're not even trying to hide it anymore

No I haven't seen that

Off Topic / Re: USPS says package delivered, never got it
« on: May 20, 2018, 03:56:51 PM »
This happened to me once a few months ago. I went to my local post office, it turns out they have something that captures the GPS location of the mail carrier when they mark it as delivered. So they said "oh whoops this was accidentally delivered to X address instead", the carrier went to that address, left them a note, and in a few days I got it back

plausible; a package from USPS was delivered a while after it showed up as delivered online. If the package doesn't show up in a few days, then it probably got stolen.
What probably happened is the person who actually received it turned it back do to incorrect address

It's not even this. I just isolated the audio and there is no evidence of any layering at all.
People are just dumb.
No, it really is legit
On my desktop, with headphones, I hear Laurel
But on my phone I hear Yanny

LAST CALL YO

who's going to BLFC

I'm pretty sure Overwatch raked in over a billion in just a year and it only cost around 60-160 million to make, so basically you're just giving them extra money they don't need.
I don't think Blizzard released official cost and revenue numbers, have they?
Either way, there's ongoing development and support costs, too.

Many games have already implemented paid cosmetics before lootboxes and those worked fine. Lootboxes revoke the freedom to choose what you're paying for.
Hmm yeah I can see that

I can slap in a few bucks and get an entire rainbow color pallet to recolor characters in Warframe.
Yeah but warframe also makes you buy a lot of non-cosmetic things, like additional weapon slots, as well as things that are borderline play-to-win, like being able to instantly buy warframes and weapons instead of having to work for them

59
See:
The reality of the situation is that game development costs continue to increase, and when you add inflation on top of that, continuing to charge $60 for a game really isn't enough. So unless you want to pay $80+ for a game, developers need to find a way to pull in additional money.

So yes, I like lootboxes, as long as they're cosmetic only
But if you have another suggestion, then please do suggest it.

60
I'm not familiar with FIFA, but in Counter Strike and Overwatch, this claim that "players buy an advantage with real money" is completely false, as lootbox rewards are 100% cosmetic.

Now, counter strike's skin system allows skins to be resold, so I still understand the gambling claim, as some people may drop money on boxes, hoping for a greater return. But overwatch skins are not transferable in any way. Overwatch also gives plenty of opportunity to earn lootboxes without purchase

The reality of the situation is that game development costs continue to increase, and when you add inflation on top of that, continuing to charge $60 for a game really isn't enough. So unless you want to pay $80+ for a game, developers need to find a way to pull in additional money.
