It's unnecessary really.
It's nice in minecraft because the block placement system is completely different, and it works well because all the blocks are the same size.
Building large areas (the one feature of many you presented) can be done with other tools

What I'd really like is something that focuses more on the brush features of world edit, like this

Yeah I was exaggerating.
Tip : If I use the number '5' I'm probably exaggerating. For some reason I always use that number when I purposely exaggerate.
EDIT : Or 5 with zeroes behind it for larger numbers
