most furries are loveual no doubt but there are some that actually enjoy for whatever reason dressing up in a costume for no loveual purpose.

Yeah a lot of them have an interest in research but that doesn't mean that's all furry is about.
I'd compare it the anime fandom. Every single person I know who likes anime also likes some form of hentai, often rule 34 of characters from their favorite shows, and many of them like some strange quirk (loli, tentacle, etc)

Hardly any of that stuff gets posted in the MLP thread, but when it does it's usually by a troll or someone looking for a arguement.

My point is that many people who like MLP do like MLP research, and you have no problem understanding that this doesn't mean that everyone who likes MLP is the same way.
Furry is the same way.

that's kind of the point of a fandom
it's a central subject that everyone enjoys

You were just saying how the too fandom were similar, I just thought to add more to it

The standard page only holds 18 topics.

What if there was a megathread for 18 different "groups" of people that everyone finds repulsive?  They'd keep their topic on the front page as often as they can, forcing us to view it without much choice.

The MLP topic is ALWAYS on top, and it's infinitely irritating to have the reminder that such a thing is popular.  Now we have this furry topic, and I feel like committing Self Delete.

I barely even notice the MLP thread.
They're cartoon animals lol. If the existance of them makes you 'feel like committing Self Delete' then....I just don't know
There's countless threads all over this forum about subjects I don't care about.  I don't like anime, does this mean I should bitch and moan in the anime thread? I don't have an interest in men, should I bitch in the Hot Boys thread? I'm annoyed at all the people who are constantly talked about League of Legends, do I go in that thread and bitch about it?

Why does it never occur to people to simply not click a thread about something that doesn't interest them?

I think it's funny that the internet can be so incredibly tolerant with stuff and yet some people still lose their minds when they see something furry or from mlp.

when people think furries, they think of animal research (generalised, of course)
when people think of bronies, they think of men wearing shirts with cutie marks watching a tv show (generalised, of course)
when people think of furries, they think of furcons with fursuits (generalised but may be true)
when people think of ponycon, they think of men wearing shirts with cutie marks who enjoy watching a tv show (generalised but may be true)

people have higher tolerance of bronies because they don't give a stuff what others think
furries on the other hand wear suits and draw up fursonas
EDIT: forgot to mention but it higher tolerance to bronies because they don't hide themselves behind stuff
just my theory
please place in your two cents to further make sense

Furries and bronies (and every other fandom in existence ever) does the same stuff, the only difference being what the core interest is (cartoon animals, a specific show, etc)

let's rephrase. what if you had love with someone in a fur costume and you later found out it was a female instead of the male you expected?

1. The idea of fursuit love doesn't turn me on at all.
2. If I was, I wouldn't do it with random people I've never met
3. I would hope it was a female

fursuits are sweaty and stuff, they look ugly, and are probably uncomfrtable as hell. how could you have love in one or cosplay?

Sweaty and uncomfortable is one of the reasons that very few people have love in them
And some of them are well made.
