Development / Re: Blockland r1395 features
« on: October 25, 2011, 03:24:07 PM »
then how come weapons, vehicles, and other shapes of the sort lag the server when spammed? is it not the face count on them that lags the server?..
The server isn't lagging, as the server doesn't render shapes.
Your client is.

If you want to change your question to "...what face count WOULD it take to finally lag the client?" I will answer that with:
There isn't a definite answer, and it varies depending on how much/little fps is considered lag, and each individual person's computer specs.

It used to be clientCmdClientJoin, but one update it was passively changed to secure. Obviously that means he'd like it to be kept unused.
I'm pretty sure it's just so that the server can't make the client call it, potentially messing something up.
If he wanted it unused, he could make it so it can't be packaged, like he has many other functions.

Blockland is now stored in My documents. Move your add-on to there.

I didn't say that it would print into the client's console.

Someone who is learning with this would probably be in a single-player game, anyway
Very true, but it's still a good idea to teach them correctly from the start

I was sleepy while I was writing this guide.
Then don't write tutorials when you know you're not in a good state to write them. And knows a good time to fix it.
Not trying to be rude, but if you want to teach people you need to be good at it.

I'd wait until you understand more to write tutorials.

Some syntax errors, some messy formatting, also using echo in a server-side script does not print it in the client's console like you say.

Suggestions & Requests / Re: Someone fix the OBJ2BLB
« on: October 21, 2011, 12:16:29 PM »
The readme does not specifically mention .bat files.

Quote
Simply use:

3dtoblb [OPTIONS] [INPUT] [OUTPUT]

For example (in the tests folder):

3dtoblb sphere.3ds sphere.blb

If you need more help, and to see other options (not many at the moment, but still):

3dtoblb --help
//OR
3dtoblb -h
//OR
3dtoblb

The only useful option at the moment is the size argument, which generates a brick grid and collision for you (all bricks are 1x1x1 by default), eg.:

3dtoblb --size 3x2x5 sphere.3ds sphere.blb

The above generates a brick file from a 3ds file with the brick size of 3 (x axis) times 2 (y axis) times 5 (z axis), with the brick grid pre-generated.
Things like that means 'use this with these options through the command prompt or a .bat file'

Why do I do the same damage with golden spear as normal spear?
The Full Damage that is bottom printed to me is a ton higher, but when I attack with it, it's the same.

Also
Suggestion : Block radiusimpulse while in the castle, otherwise people can just knock you out with a spear and kill you anyways

General Discussion / Re: You CANNOT hack Blockland
« on: October 18, 2011, 11:09:24 AM »
Everything is hackable. You don't have to think about if Blockland is possible to hack. You have to think about what methods are need, for hacking a game.
Look around you, at the people on both sides of this argument. You'll notice that everyone who has a solid understanding of how TGE (the engine that Blockland runs on) works is saying that it is unhackable. Anything that a player could possibly want to change is handled by the server. The client does not have access to it at all.

God mode in TDMs?
See above.

I haven't used either so I can't speak from experience.
But I'd say Kalphiter's because it's simple and has eval

General Discussion / Re: How to do the RGB Color trick from years ago?
« on: October 16, 2011, 12:33:46 PM »
No, that isn't. That's letter by letter. This is layering different letters  by using different colors. That way, "M T O" all appear on the same spot because the bricks used between different letters show in both or all three of the colors. I should record what I got and gif it like Nymethus just to show you.
By using cyan, magenta, yellow, and white?
Then those painted bricks would light up during two of the colors (all three for white)

I added a column to my colorset just for this:

Code: [Select]
0 0 0 255
255 0 0 255
0 255 0 255
0 0 255 255
255 255 0 255
255 0 255 255
0 255 255 255
255 255 255 255
255 255 255 32
DIV: Pure
(The last one is just a slightly more transparent white)

My suggestions:
Autosave
Safe zone inside spawn area
A way to prevent low levels from getting repeatedly killed by high levels

Off Topic / Re: Poll+Discussion-Does this forum need an archive?
« on: October 14, 2011, 04:35:22 PM »
No, because threads aren't deleted when they get old. They're still there.
In a way we already have an archive, the several hundreds of pages of threads you can go back to and view

Plus, who would decide whether a thread is notable?
