Suggestions & Requests / Creep Mod
« on: January 30, 2017, 08:05:34 AM »
In earlier versions of Blockland, one of my favorite add-ons was Mr. Wallet's Creeper Mod. It doesn't seem to work with the current version of BL, though. I was wondering if anyone could possibly make a new version of it to work with the latest version of BL.

Games / Pokemon Trading Thread
« on: December 07, 2013, 04:29:52 PM »
Basically, exactly what it says on the tin:  A thread for trading Pokemon.  Simply post an offer and await a reply.  I'm a little surprised that there isn't already a thread for this.  The rules are simple...

Rules:
•  All Pokemon must be obtained by legitimate means.  No hacked Pokemon!
•  Clearly specify what generation/version(s) you're trading from.
•  Don't ask for legendaries in exchange for stuffty Pokemon.  I'm sure no one wants to give you their Yveltal in exchange for your Bidoof.
•  Feel free to offer Pokemon you don't have, but make sure you mark their level and gender as "Undetermined".  Also, be sure you actually have them before initiating the trade ingame.
•  You don't have to format your posts properly, but it would be preferable.
•  Negotiate trades and exchange friend codes via PM in order to keep the thread neat and on topic.
•  When trades have been completed, edit your offer to indicate such.  Strikethroughs, bold type, and red text will work fine.

An example of a well formatted post:

Quote
Trade Offer:

Version:  Pokemon X and Y

Offering:  Bidoof | Level 10 | Male
Requesting:  Zigzagoon | Any Level | Female

Additional/Bonus Offers:
Offering:  Any X Exclusive Pokemon | Any Level | Any Gender
Requesting:  Any Y Exclusive Pokemon | Any Level | Any Gender

Games / Idiots on Steam
« on: November 21, 2012, 03:56:26 PM »
So, I was just checking my Facebook updates, when, suddenly, I get a chat request from some random user on Steam.  I was expecting a douchy little kid asking for my promotional items, as per usual.  So, this kid asks for one of my promotional items, even though it is explicitly stated on my profile that I will not trade them ever.  Now, rather than sending the poor kid to a shock site like I usually do, I decided to just politely decline.  Here's the conversation.

Has anyone else had to deal with this kind of bullstuff on Steam?  For me, it's been getting more and more common ever since TF2 went free to play, and I'm wondering if it's been happening to anyone else.

Games / Blinx the Time Sweeper
« on: November 12, 2012, 11:19:53 AM »
Okay, so it's a game about a loving cat...  That can control time and stuff!  And there are these fat ass pigs who go around stealing stuff.  And some of the stuff they stole turned into monsters, so this cat has to kill them.  And then they made a sequel.

Look at this little orange flavored motherforgeter!  So badass!

So, I bought both games yesterday.  I would have bought them when they came out TEN YEARS AGO, but I didn't have an XBox until last Monday.  So, yeah.

Games / Life Sized Pokedex 3D AR Markers: Has Anyone Done This Before?
« on: September 03, 2012, 12:12:52 AM »
So, I went online and found all the Pokedex 3D AR markers, and thought, "wouldn't it be cool to take photos of life-sized Pokemon using these?".  So, I printed out some resized ones.  Joltik is the only one that's technically life sized.  Krookodile is close, but still not quite right.  As for Cocigaretterigus, well...  Clearly not right.  I'll make larger, more accurate ones later.  But, for now, here's what I have.

Joltik doesn't seem to like cherubs.

Showing off the not-quite-finished tile floor in my kitchen.  Oh, and a Pokemon.

Nothing out of the ordinary here...

This will be even better when Pokedex 3D Pro comes out.  So much Pikachu/Gen 1 Starters.

Games / Shadow of the Colossus: Quest for the... Final Secret?
« on: July 28, 2012, 11:45:09 AM »

So, not too long ago, I borrowed a copy of SotC from my local library.  The game was, obviously, amazing, and I became a rather large fan very quickly.  So, earlier this morning, I did a google search for SotC, and stumbled upon this.  It's probably nothing, but I found it interesting all the same.

==================================================================

What We Know So Far:

Somewhere, in Shadow of the Colossus, there may be a secret hidden that has yet to be found by anyone.  In order to find it, the player must find a set of something that, when viewed from a certain perspective, would line up to form a multi-rayed figure. Unfortunately, this 'set' could be anything. It could be a formation of rocks somewhere in the desert; a pair of trees in the forest; or, it could even be the colossi themselves.

The answer, oddly enough, is right under the player's nose, so to speak, and has been since the beginning of the game. Every time the player slays a colossus, he or she is returned to the Shrine of Worship.  The Shrine of Worship is highly decorated, there is no doubt.  However, one set of "decorations" appears to be more than that. The four-piece set of glyph blocks, found here, is actually a bird's-eye view of four very important locations within the Forbidden Lands. They are, in no particular order:

Argus (Colossus #15)'s City
Hydrus (Colossus #07)'s Lake (?)
The Shrine of Worship
The Entrance to the Forbidden Lands

When these areas are viewed from the map screen, they form a perfect cross. The center of this cross, or the Point of Intersection, happens to lie exactly over Celosia (Colossus #11, pictured above)'s Temple.

In the back of this temple lies a doorway that appears to have been bricked (or more accurately, 'stoned') over. There are steps leading up to the door, where they come to an abrupt halt. The door is set back into the wall, and is haloed by a round, Medallion-like embellishment. The entire temple is quasi-underground, and thus has no sunlight; consequently, the Sacred Sword will not reflect light; nor will the Queen's Sword.  The Sun's Sword may be useful here, as it casts rays of light, even in total darkness, though none have tried using it for this purpose.

There may also be a connection between the temples of Celosia and Barba.  There is a similar doorway in Barba's temple, and it is also one of the only temples (aside from Celosia's) to contain some amount of fire.

Celosia's temple also contains a stick, which can be picked up, lit and used as a weapon.  It can also be removed from the temple and taken to almost any other location, including Barba's temple.

==================================================================

This may, of course, be complete nonsense, but they could actually be onto something here.  I intend to find out.

Games / Sinistar

Just played it for the first time.  Damn, it's hard!  I'm amazed I even managed to get past the first level!  Has anyone else here played it?  More specifically, has anyone played it on the original arcade cabinet?

Off Topic / Peanut Cheese Bars - Sweet JESUS, That's Good!
« on: July 09, 2012, 08:44:12 PM »
This is a long story, so bear with me here.

Every year, on my birthday, I decide to unleash my inner child and have AWESOME themed birthday parties.  They used to be fairly vague and animal-related when I was younger (fish, jungle animals, Noah's Ark).  Everything changed when the fire nation attacked I turned five.  From that point on, they've usually been a more specific theme, like a TV show or movie or video game.  The ones I can remember right off the top of my head are Pokemon, Doctor Who, and My Little Pony.  Also, each year, we often go out and do something fun beforehand, which may or may not be related to the theme (such as going to the aquarium, which was in no way related to the MLP themed party that followed).  This year, for my eighteenth birthday, we've decided to go for a theme that covers the fairly broad category of video games.  Before the party, we'll all be going to play Laser Tag.

In order to help with the preparations, I was assigned two simple tasks:

1.)  Put together a CD of music from my favorite games to play during the party (Beyond Good & Evil, Cave Story, EarthBound, System Shock 2, Portal, Portal 2, Team Fortress 2, Shadow of the Colossus, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, etc.)
2.)  Come up with a list of video game related food for the party.

What I'm going to be focusing on here is the food.  I chose six food items, as listed below:

1.)  Repulsion Gel (Portal 2, blue Jell-O and pudding mixture)
2.)  Starkos (Beyond Good & Evil, Jamaican beef patty)
3.)  Sandvich (Team Fortress 2, ham sandwich)
4.)  Bag of Chips (System Shock 2, nacho cheese Doritos)
5.)  The Cake (Portal, chocolate cake)
And, finally, the subject of this thread...
6.)  Peanut Cheese Bars (Earthbound, ???)

I had to have a food from Earthbound, and the first things that came to mind were the Skip Sandwich, the burger Ness found in the garbage, and peanut cheese bars.  We couldn't have TWO sandwiches, and the garbage burger didn't sound all that appetizing (though, neither does "Repulsion Gel"), so it had to be the peanut cheese bar.  I managed to find a recipe online that didn't seem overly repulsive, so we tried making a batch tonight to see if they were any good...

Sweet JESUS, they were good!  Although "peanut cheese" anything sound's a little weird, these were heavenly!  Like love in food form!  They were sweet, and tangy, with a slightly peanut-buttery taste.  And, strangely enough, I'd never tasted anything like that before.  I'm glad I chose them as food #6.  Best choice I've ever made, right there.

TL;DR:  Recipe.  Make.  Eat.  Rejoice.

Off Topic / The Next Nyan Cat? Probably Not.
« on: July 09, 2012, 04:26:47 PM »
So, last night, I woke up at about 2:50 A.M., and a little voice in my head said "It is time to dethrone Nyan Cat."  So, out of nowhere, I made this little gif.  When I was done, I was reminded of a similar flash animation, so I found out what music that animation used and put it to mine.  Click the gif below to see the result.

It probably won't succeed, and whatever supernatural force possessed me to make it in the first place will probably continue to plague me for the rest of my life, but whatever.  Just check it out.  If you get the video game reference, you win the internet.

Music / E.G.G.M.A.N. (Eggman's Theme from Sonic Adventure 2)
« on: June 27, 2012, 06:06:13 AM »
I was going through suggestions and requests, and found a request for this, so I made it because I was bored.  Not my best work, but Crush 40 songs are often harder to loop than most, so it was the best I could do with this particular song.

Also, have my Eggman face/decal too:

First, the bears.  Basically, just a bear player type.  It should also be available as a vehicle, and be rideable in both forms (much like the horse).  The color of the bear's fur should match that of the player's torso.  I also think it would be cool if there was an armor plated version, just for the hell of it.

(I'm sure you can guess what movie I just saw.)

Next, autogyros.  It would be cool to see an autogyro in Blockland.  It would be great if it was as easy to control as the MAS Swarm Fighter or the Fierbird.  Also, in addition to a realistic autogyro, one based on the one in Castle of Cagliostro would be great.

Suggestions & Requests / Request: System Shock 2 Weapons
« on: June 25, 2012, 03:19:40 PM »
Basically, just what the title says.  All the weapons from System Shock 2, the predecessor to BioShock.  I can provide all the necessary sound files if needed, as I went through a while ago and dug them out of the game's files (which was much harder than it is with most games).  I can also provide additional images, as some the ones here are pretty hard to make out.

List of Weapons:

Standard:

Wrench:

Details:
The Wrench is, despite its humble appearance, actually one of the most useful weapons in your arsenal. Not only does it deal a reasonable amount of damage at close range, it has a utility function in that it can be used to smash through barriers.

Black Ops Psi Amp:

Details:
The Psi-Amp is not a conventional weapon in the sense that it does not fire bullets or projectiles, at least not directly. Rather, as its name suggests, it is used to amplify one's psionic abilities, allowing for the use of the various Psi Powers available.  Some of these include pyrokinesis, cryokinesis, and the ability to create a psycho-reflective screen (a shield, basically).

Pistol:

Details:
For the most part, just a standard pistol.  It has two firing modes:  single shot and three shot burst.

Shotgun:

Details:
The damage output from the Shotgun is fairly reasonable, able to kill most enemies with a couple of shots; its major tripping point is a lack of effectiveness against robots. Overall, a quality upgrade to the Pistol.  Has two firing modes:  single shot and three shot burst.

Assault Rifle:

Details:
The Assault Rifle is the ultimate Standard Weapon, able to decimate just about any target.  Has two firing modes:  single shot and automatic.

Energy:

Laser Pistol:

Details:
The Laser Pistol does less damage than even the Pistol, but it requires no ammunition at all; instead, it holds an electric charge.  Near-useless against organic enemies, though.

Laser Rapier:

Details:
The only energy based melee weapon.  Very quick and deadly, slicing through most enemies with great ease.

EMP Rifle:

Details:
Does absolutely no damage to organic enemies.  Does massive damage to machines, though.

Heavy:

Grenade Launcher:

Details:
One of the most powerful weapons in the game.  Has two firing modes:  contact detonation and bounce detonation.

Stasis Field Generator

Actually calling it a weapon is a bit of a misnomer, since in actuality it doesn't do damage. However, it nevertheless has combat utility - stunning enemies and holding them in place, which gives you a chance to either deal some damage to them with impunity, or simply run away if you don't care to fight.

Fusion Cannon:

Details:
Very high powered, but with painfully slow projectiles.  It is useless agains fast enemies.

Exotic:

Crystal Shard:

Details:
The Crystal shard is a supremely powerful melee weapon that won't leave you wanting for more damage.  More powerful than the wrench and laser rapier combined.

Viral Proliferator:

Details:
Very effective against organic enemies.  Rather than firing bullets, you need to hold down the trigger to release a projectile, and let go of it to detonate at the right time.

Annelid Launcher:

The Annelid Launcher is, more or less, an upgrade over the Viral Proliferator. It loses the strange firing method, replacing that with a massive damage bonus and the ability to home in on targets.

Games / System Shock 2 Keeps Crashing...
« on: October 10, 2011, 06:08:33 PM »
I'm a huge fan of System Shock 2.  I don't really care for SS1, but SS2 is amazing.  I used to have a pirated copy of the game, and it ran just fine, but the cutscenes didn't play.  I wanted to fix the problem, so  I bought a copy.  Since it was actually installed properly (unlike the pirated copy, which just sat in a folder on my desktop), I was able to patch it, which fixed the issue with the cutscenes.  But now, when I play it for a few seconds, it freezes up.  What do I do, and how do I do it?

EDIT:  Never mind.  I fixed it.

Off Topic / Douchebags in my Digital Design Class...
« on: September 16, 2011, 05:03:20 PM »
Alright, I don't normally come here to bitch about my problems, but I'm making an exception here.  Deal with it.

So there are these three complete douchebags in my Digital Design class (two girls, one guy).  They all act like complete idiots, and spend most of their time talking about how high/drunk they were over the weekend, who they had love with the other night, etc.  So, today, in the middle of class, they got out of their seats, came right next to my desk, and sat down on the floor.  Then, one of the girls randomly started talking about how much she loves black rooster.  I asked them to stop, or to go somewhere else, but they just kept talking about black rooster.  I sat there in desperate need of brain bleach for the next five minutes, hoping they would change the subject.  They didn't, so I complained to the teacher, and she managed to get them to shut up.  After school, they started bitching about how I "tattled on them".  I told them that they shouldn't be out of their seats discussing black rooster in the middle of class anyway, and they just started whining about how I shouldn't be listening to their conversations.  In response, I told them to shut the forget up.  Then, one of the girls started screaming "OH MY GOSH!  YOU CUSSED!  I'M GOING TO GO TELL THE TEACHER!"  ...  And she did it, too...  AFTER SCHOOL!  After that, the teacher gave the four of us this long awkward speech about how we should behave better and use appropriate language in school...  And on the bus ride home (when I didn't actually care what they talked about), they started trying to find "inappropriate things" to talk about, just to piss me off.  Of course, it didn't work, as we were on opposite ends of the bus, and they weren't disrupting my only fun class of the day.

Discuss idiots in school.
