Music / Hoogle's Atmospheric Loop Packs
« on: February 08, 2012, 11:29:29 AM »
Over the years I've amassed a big collection of sound effects so I thought I could start using some of them in Blockland.

My aim is to create Music and Sound packs to help enhance the gaming experience. The right loop can add an extra dimension to a build and make things seem a little more real.

Here's the first few packs

Fire!
Fire Loop Pack
This contains 4 loops;
-Fire Small
-Fire Big
-Fire Inferno
-Fire Raging

I didn't have a big variety of fire sounds. I have tons of big raging inferno's but barely any small ones so I will apologies for that. Though if you are a pyromaniac this should add to your blaze.

Weather!
Weather Loop Pack
This contains 13 loops. Each file name starts with "W_" so they all appear together in the music list.
-Rain Deluge
-Rain Heavy
-Rain Light
-Rain Stormy
-Rain Traffic

-Wind Artic
-Wind Heavy
-Wind Howling
-Wind Light
-Wind Quiet
-Wind Seaside
-Wind Woodland

and last and least
-Thunder Distant

I was going to have more thunder but the constant thunder strikes do sound quite unrealistic so I will aim to release a Sound pack. In my view this will be much better for events. Having a SetLight event to coincide with a PlaySound should be great, especially in a haunted house.

Water

Water Loop Pack
This contains 7 loops;
-Water Beach
-Water Tide
-Water Cave
-Water River
-Water Stream
-Water Rapids
-Water Waterfall

Alarms
Alarm Loop Pack]

10 loops in this;

-Alarm Air Raid
-Alarm Bank
-Alarm Base
-Alarm Burglar
-Alarm Clock
-Alarm Electronic
-Alarm Klaxon 1
-Alarm Klaxon 2
-Alarm Siren
-Alarm Siren Faster

Most of you probably know this but to install copy the .ogg's to /Add-ons/Music/

If you like these I recommend you download Chrono's (and Mr.Nobody's edited) Short and Long range music bricks.

I'm now compiling a City loop pack which will contain more traffic, construction sites and various building interior sounds.

I also plan to have Animal/Life pack, Home pack, Sci-Fi, ect.

Also don't always stick to my labels of the sound, many loops will work for many other things. For example Fire_Small actually can double for 'Peeing_In_The_Shower'..

If you have any complaints, suggestions, requests do get back to me and I will see what I can do.

Will there be such a thing as shadow 'range'. Say a brick high up in the air could it be too high for a shadow not to be rendered?

Also will it all be hard lighting or can their be soft lighting. On an overcast day there are still shadows just very soft and not as hard.

And what sort of magic Technicolour eye candy glory will shaders make possible?

Is this going to be completely unbalanced like all other City RPGs?

What do you mean by unbalanced? Where the game isn't fair for everyone because people have more opportunities than others? That's kinda what living in a city is like so by nature a City RP should be unbalanced. However I'll host a Happy Town RPG with teddy bears and doggies if you like?

All day now there has been erroneous player counts in server list.  As of now it says 8 people are in the server, though 4 people in reality are there. Not sure if this is a mod thing or not, just thought you should know.

I was meaning more grafiti wise. If I'm reading this right 'Crime Enabled' is an option players have to break laws right? Like running over people only when crime enabled. If I have that right I  was thinking that if crime was enabled you could graffiti buildings. leave your mark (though on big bricks that would be quite messy.

Will clearing of records still be in this? A Beurocratic/mayoral option?

If there are problems that give people an advantage whatever they may be it wouldn't be too good though I personally want to play it as soon as possible.

if say, the mayor is unpopular, and a schism is created between the populace- rebels and loyalists- and someone assasinates the mayor and is jailed permenantly without parole, can he be busted out by other rebels/voted out by a rebel mayor?

It would be interesting if a militia of disgruntled citizens occupied a part of the city fighting back police then forming a separatist city.

But yeah would Mayor pardons be a part of the game? Say the Mafia's main hitman was behind bars the mayor could pardon him to get in with the Mafia.

Read your answer to Tomcat.

Would it be possible to have inmate visitation in the game?

As this clipart demonstrates

A point in the day where you can visit someone in jail and the only time prisoners can talk to civilians. That be cool 8D

That sounds like something the mayor (or anyone else can deal with) if a mayor is particularly unpopular they could probably pay someone to be their bodyguard. I've seen it happen in other city rp's where players themselves organise it rather than it being a 'game' feature as such.

Not all jailed people, this is a high penalty for committing the biggest crime. (suggest you read the topic)
