Okay, what? Why would I not like what he's doing? I am just saying that he will have significant issues with what he is doing currently. I know this from experience. Hosting things from laptops is a generally bad idea especially if you are using an operating system that was never even intended to host any kind of server. Since the website won't be getting much traffic, he could probably pull it off, but not with his choice of OS.im not?
And it's funny how you completely ignored what I said in my last post and instead claimed that I just don't like it when people host servers from home.
He would have much better results using Ubuntu server which he was already using, but he instead switched to Crunchbang for some reason.there is nothing wrong with what he's doing
I actually have. My isp sucks though, so I stopped. I will admit that at that time I made the mistake of hosting a webserver from Arch, but I wouldn't do that twice. Arch is good for desktop use, like crunchbang, but because of it's instability it eventually borked itself. (another reason I don't host from it anymore) Crunchbang isn't good for hosting servers because it's a desktop operating system. It's not made for running servers. While it may work for a time, it will be very slow. (it doesn't help that it's being run from a laptop)well maybe he wants to host it from home???
No, I am arguing that he is going to have significant problems later on.really? you havent mentioned that at all
Ask anyone else who hosts a webserver manuallywhy do you care so much?
A webserver at demonvps.com is fifty cents a month.
I don't like your definition of "works." He is currently hosting a webserver with no content. That is why it is displaying that message.
