Go to your status screen (press K) and right click on your armour and select "Hide from appearance" or something similar to that. Forgot what it said, just look for hide or hidden and click that. It removes the armour/kits and allows you the benefit of the stats and bonuses. It's not a glitch, it's an intentional option that they put in themselves. So it won't be removed any time soon.

As far as 5 day friend codes go, I'm only really interested in giving them out if someone is going to make a membership out of it. otherwise, I feel as if I'm kinda wasting it since I only get 3 of them and I want to have more people to goof around with on a more permanent basis, not just for 5 days.
