Creativity / CR-18 "Jackal" Mech. (Lego build)
« on: October 12, 2009, 07:27:56 PM »

Meet the Jackal, a 9m tall war machine coated with weapons.

Here you can see all of the weapons on the Jackal

So imagine that you're just walking through the forest with your squad when you suddenly hear loud thumping sounds. You turn around and come face to face with the loving Jackal. You can not run, you can not fight, all you can do is wait until you are torn apart by the Jackal's .50 caliber machine gun or vaporized by it's powerful PPC laser.

The CR-18 is a nice mix of speed and power, and although it may not be as useful against medium mechs, the Jackal is a serious threat against infantry and tanks.

The roosterpit of the Jackal

Weapons of the Jackal:
One Short-range Missile launcher
One Particle Projection Cannon (PPC)
One .50 caliber machine gun
Three medium lasers

The Jackal compared to a person.

I built the Jackal to sort of fit into the Battletech/Mechwarrior universe, and I like how it turned out. I'd like comments and constructive criticism.

General Discussion / Would you pay a monthly fee for Blockland?
« on: October 10, 2009, 05:14:13 PM »
I just wanted to see how many people would pay monthly for Blockland.

Personally, I would pay around $10 or $15 a month, just because Blockland is that awesome :D

Throughout human history we have tried to explain things. We hunger for answers, and in our quest for knowledge we try to fill in te blanks sometimes. Back when the Greeks were around, no one knew why lightning struck or why the sea could be calm or violent. Without any way to understand these powerful, natural events they tried to explain it using themselves. People started telling stories of powerful beings that looked like humans but had divine powers. Soon they felt like they understood everything and it became common knowledge that Zeus created lighting or Poseidon controlled the ocean. They had used the one thing they undestood the most (humans) to understand everything else. Today, we know this isn't true because we have used science to understand how it really works. Religions like Christianity try to explain what happens after we die and how we were created but it's stupid to turn to our ancestors for questions that require modern science. Even though  humankind can now figure out the answer to almost any question, we still hold on to our old religions. We live in an age of understanding and communication where we don't need to guess. Our instinct trys to lead us down a path of lies and misconception and we follow it like confused children. People want to think that life is about making the best choice when it's really about making the best out of what you didn't choose. Before there were even mammals on the earth, the first oranisms were learning and adapting. Instincts like fearing death or trying to find food became hard-wired into us and slowly we evolved into what we are now. It's scary to think of how lonely and short our lives are, but in the end we just have to try our best because being human is about learning and living and we don't have to answer every question right now. After all, the greatest life is one that ends.

(Sorry for any mistakes, I typed all of this on my DSi :D)

Off Topic / Tails kills a whale (Not blackmail!)
« on: October 02, 2009, 11:06:12 PM »
Yes, I have unfortunately been forced to release this picture of Tails killing a whale:

I'm not posting this because Tails hasn't released a new Total Tower, but if I were to be distracted (by a new Total Tower) I would probably forget to post pictures of Tails shooting other animals. This image is 100% real because fake pictures do not have pine trees.

(Also, I'm not blackmailing Tails but if he released a new Total Tower I would probably not post anymore images of him hunting endangered animals)

Off Topic / Numbers on a wheel?
« on: October 02, 2009, 07:02:07 PM »
I have always wondered how something could stretch in 2 directions and never stop. How could something be infinite? Number lines are illogical and make no sense. There is no space for a complete number line to exist, so their use is limited and any number line you ever see will have a definite beginning and end. At the core of numbers is the basic concept of counting. Numbers are there to represent an amount of an object being counted and whether you count stones or marbles or paper clips or even the inches between 2 objects, their values are shown using numbers. The numbers we use right now are based on 10, so if you were going to replace the number line, you would want something based on 10, right? I thought about this before I finally found an answer.

The number wheel

The number wheel is a circle with the numbers zero through 9 equally spaced around it. There are 10 spaces and each represents one unit. Now that we know what it looks like, we'll look at it's function. If you were to put a number with a single digit on the number line, you would simply move clockwise and go until you reach your number. However, when you have 2 or more digits, The numbers to the left of the ones place measure the revolutions. For example, 12 would be 1 revolution and 2 moves to the right, while 234 would be 23 revolutions and 4 moves to the right.

Once numbers get past a single digit of revolutions, it can get complicated. To make things easier, you can use multiple number wheels for 2 digits or more of revolutions.

Although using multiple wheels may seem confusing at first, once you figure it out then you can use any number of wheels without difficulty. For example, 89 is 8 moves to the right on the 2 digit wheel and 9 moves to the right on the 1 digit wheel; 137 is one revolution and 3 moves to the right on the 2 digit wheel and 7 moves to the right on the 1 digit wheel. It may sound complicated, but wheels are simple when you actually use them.

Sorry if this confuses you, but I'm positive that I explained it well enough. I would also like to add that you can have 3 digit, 4 digit or any other number of digits for a wheel as long as you put everything in the right place.

Fun fact: You can put any number on a single 1 digit number wheel.

« on: October 01, 2009, 09:43:55 PM »
All the old links are dead and I can't find them on RTB. All I want are the Mech, Mech Light, and Mech Heavy.

I'm not sure if this belongs here, but I didn't know where else to ask for it.

I've been getting more interested in mechs lately, and so I was glad I found a demo of this. Also, Mechwarrior 4 will be released on battletech.com soon for free, so look out for that.
