context and cause in terms of a riot are the same
the context is that they're rioting because of X
Let me clarify - what I mean by context is 'these protestors are black because they're protesting about black issues'. The cause that some people see is 'these protestors are protesting because they're black'. Sorry for the confusion.

they'll go Jerry Seinfeld on something that the opponent said, out of context, and imply through veiled language that it is an example of blatant racism when really there's much more to it than "white privilege"
Or maybe it is just blatant racism? When do you get to call a spade a spade?

Also, Jerry Seinfeld is a genius.

i would like an example of something not being about race and the headline still includes "black protesters/rioters"
http://www.wnd.com/2012/09/riots-denials-and-black-mobs-in-flint/

Flint is pretty much an all-black city, and the protests were about water and poverty, not race. Admittedly this article is tribal for more reasons than the headline, but the same story was picked up by half a dozen other news sites as well.

it's racial because they do it for racial reasons
Lol, bullstuff. If a predominantly black crowd protested about tennis, the news would still turn it into a story about 'rioting blacks'.

You might see race as like, context for the issue, but people here on the forums and the US in general see it as the cause of the issue. If you can't agree with that, I don't know what forums you've been browsing.

please learn to rise above the SJW style of arguing where you covertly call everyone tribal because "muh duble stnderds"
tbh I don't think I've even used the word 'tribal' on this forum in like weeks/months. At least not directed towards a forum user. It's definitely an SJW-trope to over-label, but I think I've been pretty good at attacking arguments rather than people. Just my opinion.

I heard the same thing about the post-election Portland protest from a friend there, but apparently people came later with the purpose to forget stuff up so vOv
My only beef is that the attitude towards protesting/rioting involves a huge degree of confirmation bias. All the people who complain endlessly about BLM riots seem to turn a blind eye whenever there's a sports riot. So does that mean that football scores are more riot-worthy than police brutality and mass-incarceration?

I don't support rioting in any fashion, but the hypocrisy here is palpable.

because their race isnt important, when you include "black protests bla bla" its usually to emphasize that it was about race issues. the main reason why you dont see "white protester" however is because we're not monkeys
All I'm reading is, "it's not a race-thing with white protestors 'cuz I say so."

funny how nobody is referring to these protestors as 'white'.

it's only a racial thing when black people break the windows, clearly.

It's a pretty generic inauguration speech, so it wouldn't be fair to nitpick things I don't like.

All I want to say is that pushing nationalism and trade protectionism is not 'America First'. Sacrificing our economic growth and comparative advantages to save doomed industries will only cost us more in the long-term. Likewise, shattering our connections with international organizations will only lead to more conflict.

I don't think Donald Annoying Orange is going to singlehandedly kill free trade and globalism, but he's definitely going to delay the retooling of workers whose industries literally will not exist in 15 years. The only way forward is a global economy, and it's gonna happen no matter what.

Real life isn't as black and white as Star Wars, there's no defined good and evil when it comes to left vs right.
I'm aware. It's just the way you phrased that sounded like it came straight from the prequels.

looking at the article, he actually said that the inauguration event is "typically and traditionally American" and that Kanye's music would not fit
This is a fair point. The whole theme of Annoying Orange's inauguration is stars-and-stripes-jump-suit country American pop stuff. It would stick out terribly if he put in music that people actually like to listen to.

From my POV, you guys hard hard-line opinions but that doesn't make them any less valid.

"man i dont like the normalization of degeneracy"
I think you're trolling now, since there's no way that you're this much of an alt-right caricature. The Sam Hyde avatar had me suspicious, but now that you're namedropping degeneracy I think I'm gonna cash out here.

I saw that on reddit too...
It's always either /r/TIL or vsauce.

I'm just using Saudi Arabia as an example of what happens in countries where Islam is the state religion and we already know you're a Muslim apologist.
I think any kind of theocratic monarchy governed by a handful of extreme fundamentalists will have this problem. Remember that a long time ago we used to burn witches.

Anyway, I don't know why you're bringing Saudi Arabia up because it's not like Annoying Orange is gung-ho about going after Saudi Arabia's human rights abuses. Hillary Clinton might be funded by some Saudis, but Annoying Orange owns an empire of businesses, and I'm sure he's smart enough to know what a oil supply shock will do to his stock portfolio. Or maybe he wouldn't be able to tell, if he just put his finances into a blind trust ;)

Fun fact: the word 'family values' used to refer to the fear of being thought of as gay by other people. In some respects, it still kinda does, yes?

One of which is thought to have leaked the DNC emails, and another who died in a "barbell accident".
Thought by whom? Also, the UN official wasn't testifying against Clinton nor was he even scheduled to testify until far after the day he died.

Libs have issues with russia getting along with us because putin is a richard. But they have no issues with our strange ties to Saudi Arabia that we suck the richards of.
I despise Saudi Arabia, but at least it's possible to prevent our government from getting pushed around by Putin. Our government is too in love with Saudi oil to punish their human rights abuses, but we have no such ties to Russia.

meanwhile being christian in saudi arabia means you're considered a terrorist by the state and they kill gays openly.
I really don't understand where you guys are getting this narrative that liberals are apologists for Saudi Arabia. Every couple weeks I check up on that 20 y/o Arab Spring protestor Ali Al-Nimr to see whether the Saudis have killed him yet.

There's about as much proof that the Kremlin killed those people as there is that Hillary Clinton killed the people who had information that could lead to her arrest.
I knew that comparison would come up, but there's really no similarity. The Clinton conspiracy theories essentially boil down to the fact that a couple of people (among thousands) tangentially involved with the Clinton investigation died from natural causes while the investigation was proceeding. Several of the conspiracy theories center around people who weren't even important in the investigation nor had any sort of information or 'dirt' against Clinton.

These people who died in Russia were murdered in broad daylight, after years of vocal antagonism against Putin and the Kremlin. Plus, are you willing to tell me that a non-governmental entity acquired Polonium and used it to poison Litvinenko? Where the hell would the mob get Polonium, and why would they use that instead of just shooting the guy?

Also I see absolutely loving nothing about a "crusade" against gay people. All I've seen is that they don't get special treatment. Boo loving hoo.
It's literally in the article. If you want, you can read about the more specific cases of family values in Russia, but Wikipedia summarizes it pretty nicely.

Quote
In the 21st century, Russia began to receive worldwide attention for their legal treatment of LGBT citizens, which has been referred to as one of the worst human rights violations in the post-Soviet era. Since 2006, numerous regions in Russia have enacted varying laws restricting the distribution of materials promoting LGBT relationships to minors; in June 2013, a federal law criminalizing the distribution of materials among minors in support of "non-traditional" loveual relationships, was enacted as an amendment to an existing child protection law.[6] The law has resulted in the numerous arrests of Russian LGBT citizens publicly opposing the law and there has reportedly been a surge of homophobic propaganda, violence, and even hate crimes, many of whom use the law as justification.

What these laws essentially state is that being homoloveual and being on television, writing a book with homoloveuality in it, directing a movie with homoloveual characters, or just being gay in general can get you arrested. 'Distribution to minors' is an intentionally vague description, since it can mean everything from distributing pro-LGBT flyers to children, to just same-love kissing in public (potentially in the presence of children!).

This isn't an overreaction or a hypothetical argument either; it's how Russia actually uses this law. Last year, they used these laws to arrest LGBT activists during a May Day parade, while simultaneously allowing neo-national socialists to participate in the same event without issue.
