I don't know about the situation in Canada, but Native Americans in the US aren't living the high-life at all. They rank pretty much dead last among other ethnic groups in terms of poverty and educational opportunities.

The tribes that have casinos do a pretty good job at setting up scholarships though. If you're a decent student and can demonstrate blood quanta, you can basically go to college for free.

Not very long, which is why late 19th century colonialists brought gatling guns that made it really easy.

We enslaved the Africans but killed the Native Americans. It could have been the other way around. If anything, Jitank would have more credibility of his life being hard if he were at least 40% Native American or higher. And I say 40% because full blooded Native Americans are basically near loving extinction.

If you're right about anything, it's that Native Americans are essentially at the bottom of the racial hierarchy in the US. That still doesn't justify anything though.

Actually the slaves we shipped back from America to Africa actually used the knowledge they learned such as reading, writing, etc and were able to actually form civilizations that were more advanced than just spear chucking.

Friendly reminder that large, stratified, agricultural empires existed in Africa prior to colonialism. Ones that could read and write and would have industrialized at some rate without colonialism.

Yes, there were hunter-gatherer bands in Africa, but there were plenty in Europe and Asia as well.

You can't honestly say slavery didn't positively affected Africans in the future.

This brand of apologism can be applied to pretty much anything awful.

i don't think that this necessarily confirms nor denies the allegations in any way. the same thing happened to Sam Pepper, right?

I mean, Sam Pepper literally filmed himself groping strangers in public. He claimed they were 'actors', but that story is still pretty much uncorroborated by any of the people filmed in the video who were allegedly his 'actors'.

I don't think we know anything about the case that justifies vilifying this guy. This boils down to his words against her words, and the case ought to be handled in a court of law rather than the court of public opinion.

In contrast, I'd say that there's plenty of reasons to vilify Bill Cosby. Any sane person should be able to recognize that an innocent person does not get accused of rape by literally dozens of women. He should still be presumed innocent in a court of law, but anyone with a conscience should recognize that it's obvious he's guilty.

maybe you should all watch the videos of like 6 other women claiming crazy stuff happened while he was dating them

I mean, 'crazy stuff' isn't necessarily the same thing as rape. Someone can be a loveual deviant and prone to bouts of anger without being a rapist.

The earliest racism in the United States dates back to a practice in the 17th century where rich white landowners encouraged discrimination against blacks to allow lower-class whites a form of superiority that would make them less likely join forces with other racial groups and revolt against the rich. Historians refer to it as the racial bribe, and it predated slavery by several decades.

It wasn't quite that straightforward. Reconstruction temporarily improved racial relations before it was dissolved and all the Black Codes and Jim Crow era laws started to be passed. Not all white people were tribal after the end of slavery, but the government (especially Southern state governments) sure was.

the proof of this is that criminals are going to prison and some people employed criminals over free men on the basis of skin colour and not qualifications.

I don't know what Jitank is trying to say, but the prison system is hugely responsible for why black people aren't escaping poverty as quickly as they could be. The War on Drugs of the 80s saw a disproportionate amount of minorities sent to prison for disproportionately long sentences over drugs less potent than the ones used by rich white people. When they come out, they're labeled felons and can't get jobs, which usually results in them becoming career criminals that end up back in jail.

If you want an extremely telling example of why this is racially motivated, note this: at the height of Reagan's War on Drugs, possession of 1 gram of crack cocaine resulted in the same punishment as possession of 100 grams of regular cocaine, the only difference being that one is predominantly used by poor minority groups and the other by whites. As of 2010, the punishment is only 1:18, but that's not a whole lot better.

Racism is a very intentional act. The saying "racism can be unintentional" is one that constantly irritates me

It can be a subconscious thing. An old lady might not outright believe that black people are dangerous, but her subconscious still drives her to clutch her purse a little bit harder when a black guy rounds the corner.

That being said, I've got a million times more sympathy for the people with the subconscious biases.

Buy an ultrasonic rangefinder, an arduino, and one of those RF transmitter/receiver sets that can be used with arduino. Should be less than $50 to make exactly what you want, and you might actually learn something from it.

For future reference; calling somebody a 'cunt' endearingly implies that you trust that person enough to not take offence to you calling them a derogatory term, which in turn make it one of the greatest possible compliments for an Australian to give, since Australian culture is geared entirely toward a more relaxed "do what you feel like" environment.
