I still want to know how you know how most Japanese people get offended by Jap.
Because it's a well-documented racial slur. There is likely no stratified study that has  tried to quantify its offensiveness, but every single academic and historian (mostly Japanese ones, too) have agreed that it persists as a slur to this day.

The Wikipedia page is very well-cited with evidence that it's a modern slur.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jap

Do you want to continue grasping at straws?

3722
Actually yes I want to know the percentage of Japanese people who get offended by Jap
Why, so that you can revise your original argument to something that's not completely wrong? Or because you just want to stall for time before you stop posting?

3723
You said "pretty much all Japanese people find it offensive" and I asked how you got to that answer
Common knowledge? It's a well-known racial slur. Do you want a peer-reviewed paper or something?

i disagree; 'nip' would be more on par with 'monday'
That's not used as frequently though, is it?

I'm saying anyone who isn't hyper sensitive doesn't get offended by "Jap"
How do you know that someone offended by 'jap' is hyper-sensitive?

3724
Did you go around Japan asking "Hey does the word 'Jap' offend you ok good"
No, but I haven't gone around Nigeria asking about the word 'monday' either. Is this really the argument you're trying to make?

You're basically telling me I'm not in the position to make a subjective opinion about a word some people say
You aren't 'making an opinion', you're stating a claim. You're arguing that Japanese people don't find the word 'jap' offensive. You are not Japanese. Hence you are talking out of your ass.

3725
But you do?
No, but pretty much all Japanese people find it offensive, so I'd say it's fair to say that it's offensive to its target group.

Listen, I don't really care what words people say on the internet. The beauty of the internet comes from the freedom to say things uninhibited. However, you are not equipped nor qualified to decide whether 'jap' is offensive. If you really wanna say it, just do it and don't try and justify it.

3726
To anyone who isn't hyper sensitive
As informed by what? You're not Japanese and have no credible view on whether it's offensive or not.

3728
So for him to have me call strange people mondays isn't going to give any accurate results that other words would give.
For some reason, I think certain words might elicit specific responses. Just my guess.

3729
I said monday isn't as offensive as it once was 100+ years ago. It's still offensive but not as it use to be.
You should do a social experiment where you walk up to the first black guy you see on the street and call him a monday.

Videotape the results for us, too. Gotta be scientific.

3730
"Nih"
Alright now you've just trolling us lol.

3731
Japs were calling themselves Japs before WW2.
Again, gonna need to see a citation on that. That's very interesting too considering that 'jap' is an English slur.

3732
Let me stop you right there. I know the website says "japan talk" but it most likely is probably ran by a white guy since they know just as much about Japanese culture, even more than real Japanese.

Even white Americans claim certain words are offensive to a specific race even when that race says they are not
You keep shifting the argument and the goalpost to completely different words. Jap is a slur. It was invented by the US military as a way to create catchier posters about killing Japanese people. What millennials think about other words is irrelevant. It's been a slur since the 40s.

Brit was a wartime slur.
I'm 90% sure you just pulled that out of your ass. Citation please.

3733
So what do we call them for short?
Something that wasn't a wartime ethnic slur?

3734
Actually Jap was shortened because they didn't want to keep spelling out Japanese. In no way was it meant to be a slur.
No, it is definitely a slur. It was popularized during WWII in anti-Japanese propaganda.

I like the implication here. Being photographed next to black people means that you're not a tribal.

While we're at it, here's a photo of George Wallace next to a black guy.
