Jews were paid homage for their suffering. Not only that, Jews are mostly white. Jew and black people went through completely different struggles so you cant really compare the situations as the same.
They're not the same, but they're definitely comparable. In the modern day, Jews have much better economic standing around the world, so you could say that they're not as oppressed now, but historically there's plenty of parallels to be drawn.

What's the end goal of this argument anyway? Is only one racial group allowed to face adversity?

forget no they're not, they hijacked a Bernie Sander's rally when he was against segregation and literally fought for it, and they've hijacked so many other rallies because "they're oppressed"
Hijacking public events is a valid way to get exposure for your movement. There's still plenty of people alive today that were complaining only half a century ago about all the 'uppity black people' blocking the streets and public buildings.

Just because there are radical sects of the BLM movement does not mean that they're not going after a legitimate problem and that there aren't reasonable people working with them.

People like to romanticize the Civil Rights Movement as some kind of extremely peaceful series of marches down city streets, but there was plenty of disruptive protests and violence. When people are concerned enough about a problem in society, they're willing to make headlines and piss people off in the process of fixing it. And then sometimes when we look back in history, we're pretty glad they did it.

That being said, I don't think that this specific instance of disruptive protest was productive.

Obviously you can't make a call to violence without consequences but most anything else is fair game.
There's actually like a dozen other instances where non-violent free speech is restricted by the government. You can't express yourself in any way you want while attending public schools, you can't create libel against someone, and you can't broadcast certain types of profanity over the airwaves.

Checking this thread again, I don't actually think Jimmy Carter will die this year. The guy is loving invincible. Goes into complete remission from advanced stage melanoma in his 90s. Good thing too, since he does a lot of great philanthropy.

Everyone in the village has full access to the claim and keys to the gates. It's essentially like being in a village except we don't have a lawspeaker/herdsman and no message pops up when people get near our claim.

loving Stevie Nicks. Every classic rock station in the valley thinks, "Hey, she came from Arizona, so everyone wants to hear one of her songs every half hour!" forget no. It makes me wish that a landslide would bring her down.

Join my H&H village and spend your summer moving logs and dirt for 12 hours a day.

Seventh, can't you just respect people's right to waste their money? You don't need to heckle them about it just let them spend.
You've made two wrong assumptions here. One, I am not trying to convince Arekan to not waste his time. The reason we're having this conversation is because he came in and acted like hot stuff for wasting his own money and time. Two, time-wasting is completely justifiable when you're doing it for the purpose of entertainment or personal pleasure. I don't have any right to say that I 'don't respect' time wasting, because I waste most of my own time. To me, it sounds like you've jumped in here without any kind of context.

Most everyone loves democracy until it produces an outcome they don't agree with.
In their defense, pure democracies do not usually exist because they can create outcomes that are damaging to large groups of people. Republics and parliaments usually work better because they're more efficient and can stop mob rule.

Nothing in that states that I'm trying to make a career out of it or anything. :V
Them goalposts.

3746
arekan plays games for fun - he just happened to make money off of it. he's not trying to make some statement that gaming as a career pays off.
That's literally exactly what he did.

I hate how people always make a big deal about items costing money. Sure, I might have spent a couple hundred dollars on some virtual items. I've also made about a thousand dollars in return. Stay mad. It all depends on how wise the spender is.

The whole reason we're having this conversation is because of his roostery hubris.

3747
just because its being discussed.

i have owned property (with a castle) on entropia universe for over 10 years. its now worth nearly $6000
It's not impossible to make money on online economies, but kids like Arekan grovelling for hours over pennies are wasting their time.

3748
I'm still not seeing why you're assuming that my hours in CS:GO is me constantly attempting to make money off of it.
This goes back to what I originally said about video game item markets not being volatile enough. People are only willing to bend slightly on item prices because they never shift and the community has established relatively fixed, well-publicized spreadsheets telling everyone how much to sell things for. The only conceivable way to make a 1000% return is to spend literally thousands of hours making hundreds and hundreds of transactions whereupon you only make a <10% profit on whatever you've sold.

The other possibility is that you've actually spent far more on your items than you originally let on.

3749
So you have 1000 theoretical dollars
Less, actually. The Steam market place value is a 'high' value for the price of items. The only safe way to sell items and receive actual USD is by using online third parties, who charge fees for their services. Plus, people will only buy items for a fraction of the price because they know that the sellers are liquidating. $1000 worth of Steam credit in items probably goes for $600 at best.

I feel like you guys got triggered.
Yep, the 'u Mad?' defense. Caught me.

I just said that I just ended up making bank because I didn't go throwing away all of my money blindly and all that fun stuff.
You didn't 'make bank' though. You wasted a massive amount of time and received a petty, nontransferable stipend from it.

3750
I could if I really wanted to, but Steam credit is useful enough to me.
Alright, suit yourself, but your roostery attitude is still completely unjustified. Anyone mowing lawns or washing dishes would have made far more money than you in the same amount of time you've spent trading. Working for Indian-call-center wages is not the mark of a 'wise spender'.
