I went to an Australian ER after I shredded my hand on a metal fence skateboarding. When the nurse came over (after multiple hours) she gave me attitude asking why I thought I needed to be in the ER and then she grabbed my hand and squeezed the forget out of my cut and blood poured out all over the place
There was also some dude there with a nasty ass broken leg who had his forgeted up limb propped up on a trash can, he was there before me, and was there after I went in (a period of multiple hours), with no painkillers, and nobody even came to check on him lol. Free medical is a loving nightmare, just get a job. This was the second stuffty experience I had there
Oh yeah and also literally everything else where I live is like 10x the price of the same stuff in America
I saw a doctor at an Australian emergency room yesterday. I told him how cool the universal health care system was, but I didn't wanna be a douche and bother him with miniscule injuries. He said, "Oh, like you're doing now?"
I was taken aback, and all I could say was "Huh?" but he kept cutting me off and going "huh? huh? huh?" and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my hospital bill up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors of the trauma ward with 15 prescriptions of hydrocodone in his hands without paying.
The nurse at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like "Doctor, you need to fill out the paperwork for those first." At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the hospital store room.
When she took one of the pill containers and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually "to prevent any electrical infetterence," and then turned around and winked at me. I don't even think that's a word. After she scanned each vial and put them in a bag and started to say the price for the co-pay, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
