Help / Re: Variable Events - onRelay can't check Client variable?
« on: April 28, 2010, 05:57:50 PM »
No, you can't. ifValue only works with "special variables", or values.
Zentrhox emailed me and it works. Also, check up on your variable replacers in the VCE guide. It works.

Just plug your CPU into your modem(where the internet comes into your house).
This will just mess things up if you have multiple devices.

Ethan - Did you try disabling the router's firewall?

This will not work! Values are preset numbers that cannot be changed via events!
I am fairly sure you can use variable replacers with the ifValue on any variables.

OnRelay can't check variables on anything other than itself, I need to find a roundabout way to make this work.
[Self] > [VCEifValue] > [<var:cl/pl:cyrbank>] Use cl if client, pl if player.

I would do...
[0][0] >[OnActivate] > [Self] > [FireRelay]
[1][33] >[OnRelay] > [Self] > [FireRelay]
[2][0] > [OnRelay] > [Self] > [VCEifValue] [<var:cl:cyrbank>] [>] [0] [3 6]
[3][0] > [OnVariableTrue] > [Self] > [VCEmodVariable] [Client] [cyrbank] [subtract] [1]
[4][0] >[OnVariableTrue] > [Self] > [VCEmodVariable] [Player] [cyr] [add] [1]
[5][0] > [OnVariableFalse] > [Self] > [SetEventEnabled] [2] []
[6][500] > [OnVariableFalse] > [Self] > [SetEventEnabled] [2] [tick]

I'm pretty sure that would work....

Grasping at straws now - Any firewalls? Client/router sided? have a look around your router; they can sometimes cause problems. Ninja - You may want to try putting your router firewall into "snooze" temporarily. You could also try setting your machine as the DMZ.

Looked at your router's manual...
It seems you have quite a few choices on the UPnP settings; I would recommend....
Enable full Internet Gateway Device (IGD) support and nothing else.

Turn down all your graphic settings; it will look horrible but run quicker.

You can either press tab, or get this mod which adds a nice arrow.

Could it be your internet losing connection? If you're on wireless this could be a problem (I get random internet drops via a wire; but that's just stuffty country-side internet).

Hmm, this may work... May not... Might be worth a try.

I'm going to change your DNS to the Google ones... Follow these instructions.

1) Control Panel
2) Classic View > Network + Sharing Control Center
3) Manage Network Connections (Left hand toolbar)
4) Right click on your network name (commonly "Local Area Connection")
5) Properties
6) Highlight "Internet Protocol Version 4" (by clicking on it)
7) Properties
8a) Take note/screenshot of current settings (in case you have to revert)
8b) "Use the following DNS Server Addresses"
8c) "Preferred DNS Server" -  8.8.8.8
8d) "Secondary DNS Server" - 8.8.4.4
9) Apply etc.

Try it; I am doubtful of the success.

Help / Re: A variable that contains a word?

In that case you would have a brick or some set of events which are
[OnInput] > [Self] > [VCEmodVariable] > [Client][Family][==][Gay] (Zenloth disapproves of family RPGs however doesn't like refusing people if they need help)

Which would mean every time you used <var:cl:family> it would display whatever you had in the last parameter.

Hmmm, seems to be resolving it to the same IP that my DNS is resolving it to....

I'll leave Kalph to solve this topic (I'm sure he will be able to); I feel he will do a better job.
