okay i'd buy an $8 million dollar car and then sell it
Do you only come to this thread with the intention of ruining the party? We understand that you'd rather spend the money on other things, but it's a thought experiment about what car you would get with that money -- not how the best way to spend it is.

RICE stands for Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancement. Cosmetic is the operative word, it refers to non-functional. Something like that huge wing wouldn't be considered ricey when talking about a real racecar. However, stuff like a color-mismatched hood, decals on the side, underglow and a roof scoop (wtf?!) are still race inspired cosmetic enhancements; thus they are still ricey.

If I had 8 million dollars to blow on a car I'd buy some $10k beater and spend the rest on something worthwhile
The issue is that the key words are "to blow on a car," meaning you can't spend the money on anything other than a single car.

If I had that much to blow on a car Id probably buy a 458 Italia. Or an Aventador. Or an LFA.
If you had 8 million dollars to blow on a car you'd buy a $200k car or a $400k car or a $375k car? What a waste of the remaining $7.6m.

Here's something interesting:

Sky to the left of my balcony:

Sky to the right of my balcony:

As you can see in the first pic, there are no clouds in the sky.

Due to the current wildfires, evacuations, unpredictable wind direction, air quality, active fires close by, potential power outages, district employee shortage, road closure issues, and schools being used as evacuation centers: San Dieguito Union High School District, along with the Cardiff School District, Del Mar Union School District, Encinitas Union School District, Rancho Santa Fe School District, and Solana Beach School District will be closed on Friday May 16, 2014.

Jesus Christ, did they give enough loving reasons for closing the school?

doesn't protect from everything.
Unless you're using a sheepskin condom, yes it does. Latex and polyurethane are impermeable, so there's literally no contact at all through the condom. The only way you can still get an STD is if the condom breaks.

Let it burn. It clear away all the excess plants that have died and the ash will go back into the soil and fertilize the ground to allow newer and stronger foliage to grow.

In the canyons, they do let it burn. The issue is when it spreads to actual houses.

The biggest fire in all of San Diego County is within half of a mile of my college campus and rapidly spreading.

How would a car for your son not be an investment?
An investment is something that you purchase with the intent of gaining money off its predicted rise in value. Cars in almost all cases only depreciate in value, and this is known by everyone I've ever talked to.

They way he drives it doesn't make it an investment
As I've reiterated again and again, the car is fully insured for any possible collisions. Since the word investment by nature refers to the monetary value of something, the prospect of me crashing it would not change anything at all, except that my new one would have a manual transmission. It's actually a good thing if I "crash daddy's investment."

ok you're going to crash daddy's investment. Better?
A car isn't an investment by any definition of the word.

waste of money
It's not a waste of money either. Even if I do crash it, insurance would pay out the full value of the car. I don't see why it's even relevant that my parents paid for my car; are you trying to say that this would be a completely different story if I'd purchased the car myself?

I could liquidate some of my assets at any time and pay them back, but they don't want me to do that. The car is mine to do with as I please, and that I do.
