It's not fun having to mine all your own stuff and then going to trade it. It's super fun stealing valuble stuff from other people and then trading that.

this, all though it's even more fun to do a combination of both,

and once again, it's your (not you, extrude) fault for putting valuables in chests that players can freely take. You can hide them in so many places it's not even funny. How the hell do you people think we played SMP before bukkit and stuff. I never had a problem on Heelbadbad's server a loooong time ago.

Well not quite. Notch altered the code to make the height limit very easy to change, but it will stay at 128 unless you mod it. The value can be set to 256, 512, 1024, etc.

I saw that one old picture with the massive height increase, everyone said It was from notch or something I thought, so I assumed there would be that and new taller land generation and all that good stuff...

Notch confirmed that it was staying at what it currently is at for performance stability

It's common sense. Would you just go out 50 miles and build all by yourself? No. You would build wherever, defend it, even travel to other's places to try and get some quick loot or battle, etc. etc. I only said that if you're so butthurt about people stealing and stuff, you can (as an OPTION) build far as forget away so no one can find you.

Chances are you would want to play with friends as well. They'd be with you too. I mean come on, I'm not suggesting a bunch of random people get together, all travel far away and build without ever seeing each other.

once again, this is why I said you can build really far away and hidden. It's your fault if you build it out in the open next to the spawn, or if you have a group of friends, someone else can stand guard.

if you leave, you can either hide your chests or put your valuables in your inventory.

Really, that takes lots of fun out of the game. There's no locks in vanilla, there shouldn't be. It's not a town server where everyone is right next to each other either. It's not hard to hide a chest around the world of minecraft. Stealing is part of survival, and I'm sure some of you guys will steal the stuff from 1.8 NPC villages. You wouldn't say "oh you cant steal from the NPC villages, that's bad and against the rules they should have locks".

don't give a stuff if someone griefs, you should build far away where no one can find you, or seek safety in numbers

where no one cares if you steal*, because it's the person's who left his chests unattended (and home) fault

stuff like that, I don't want PvP off or have to go to an arena, nor do I want 100 bukkit mods disabling me from even entering a persons house because they fear you'll grief or something.
