oops i should have said that I've already played it

i mean this is something I'd like to go back and play for a little bit but it seems not even one person feels the same

and i don't mean like im looking for someone to play multilayer
I like the game still, but I am not going to lie and say it isn't lacking things.

Update is out. 833.7 MB

It's fun the first few times you play it because of it being a whole new world to explore, different coolio things to craft, and being able to make some really neat looking houses/bases

Buuut that's all there is to it, there's no actual story currently, if you want story and bosses to fight, you're better off playing Terraria
Well, terraria doesn't really have a story. You just kind of explore and kill things

I wonder how many people made their vault "420"
I went with the classic vault 420

Replay value is literally how much people want to play the game again after beating it

Starbound's content ends in a few hours of raw gameplay. After you've seen everything, there's no reason to look for procedural generated content because you've already seen it all after seeing all the different world types

the developers, instead of developing raw gameplay, keep stuffing in empty content like collect-a-thon garbage and pointless, roundabout quests for the sake of quests

there's no meaningful content inbetween all the filler and it ends up being a good experience until you run out of things to see
I'm not denying that there isn't that much content in the game, but one person can't generalize for the entire playerbase in saying that there is no replay value.

Now if he would have said
...because at the moment it has no replay value for me...
I probably wouldn't have said anything at all

"you saying the game has no replayability means nothing because other people might find it replayable"
"you saying the game is unenjoyable means nothing because other people might find it enjoyable"
Those are two completely different things.

you're basically saying that reviews mean absolutely nothing because although you dont enjoy something someone else might
Except I didn't say that at all

No it doesn't? People wanting to replay a game is more or less the definition of replayability.
Just because you can't find replay value in the game doesn't mean it has no replay value for anyone else

Just because someone has replayed the game doesn't mean it has replay value. And I sort of enjoyed my first playthrough on Upbeat Giraffe, but it felt empty and repetitive. Mine ore, make the next tier of identical items, visit differently-colored planet with differently-colored ore, repeat a couple times. How can replaying be any better? The only high points were the bosses, which are few and far between, spaced with filler, and they're the same every time.
My first statement still stands.

Thing is, Terraria may never update but it doesn't really need to. 1.3 was sweet, but Terraria already had plenty of content and now it has even more. But Starbound doesn't get that excuse, because at the moment it has no repay value and the first playthrough is fairly brief and linear.
Saying something has no replay value because you don't want to replay it doesn't really make any sense. I'm completely sure that somebody has replayed the game.

what exactly is the problem with it then? this sounds like fun
Some riot dude said that a sandbox mode would add another layer of toxicity or some stuff. Like people would be insulted and told "you suck, go back to sandbox mode." Now for damage control another Riot dude said that a sandbox mode wouldn't be bad, but it isn't a priority.
Something like that
