This would be pretty cool, but I feel would be a pretty big departure from the concept of a boss battle, and would be better off being considered as a totally new project/gamemode. Sounds a little like a MOBA in some ways really, and could be really interesting if done well.
But back on topic, I'll see if I can get the time to assemble some of my ideas and post them here. Most of them aren't too special, but I hope they will give some of you inspiration all the same.
Also, in regards to the whole classes discussion, I think that having no classes would create more difficulties than benefits. The balance would be a nightmare to say the least.

Anyway, tbh I never really put much thought into the whole balloon accident meme. I figured he'd be gone forever either way, regardless of how true the meme was.

Yeah I usually interpret it as tears but in the context of the image, seemed like it was meant to be blushing.
But then I don't know why they didn't just have a comma then semicolon or something instead of creating a four-eyed thing

However, when a change is detected it'll overwrite all the base files with the cached ones, which also updates the timestamps on the files. Chances are some random base file was touched by a mod or external program, prompting the overwrite.
Honestly I had no idea that's what triggered the overwrite.
