This thread is dripping with possible sarcasm.

Drama / Re: Known noobs

This is more for people to be aware of who not to trust and/or share info to

How on earth is that in any way fair to the other person? Just picking them out from behind their backs and labeling them, as if you have some kind of authority that allows you to make broad sweeping generalizations about a person, and tell other people to think similarly and act upon that by shunning the person? My god. You sound like Riddler. :|

People who are new to something are going to be "noobs". That's sort of the whole thing about being new to something. You probably won't understand it at first. So how is not sharing info with them going to solve that? That's only going to make them a noob all the longer. If you don't feel like dealing with them, I can't help that. But just realize that trying to make some kind of list of people who you've deemed unfit for social activity in Blockland is NOT going to solve the problem.

General Discussion / Re: "Dance Floor" Builds
« on: December 17, 2010, 09:15:15 PM »
I think people should put more effort into the ways they build things, and not just go with such a boring and empty design. When I build a club, I don't just make a box. I make a box... and then I add in a platform. Then I add in lights. Then I color in textures on the walls. Then I.... etc., etc. I start with a general idea that other people have built before, but I change it to make it more original. That makes your build much more interesting to look at and explore.

I also think that your build should be distinguishable by the time it's finished being built. I mean, using my previously mentioned example of people taking this "1x5 box" design and using it for all buildings, how am I supposed to know what that is? Is it a house? Is it a police station? Is it a wonderful-funderful land of hopes and dreams and rainbows? I have no clue, because all I see is a box. Put something in it to clarify what you're building. Give me more of a hint than, "IT'S A BOX." And be careful with your hints. Make sure other people would recognize what it is. Someone once stated that their 1x5 box was a jail because it was blue... lolwut? (Obviously, an exception to this rule is needed for things that AREN'T recognizable to other people, like something more abstract, like a sculpture or something..)

I hate to try and contradict the first two posters, but I think the OP is more or less talking about club builds. Builds that involve... clubs. Places where music is played in a large room with lots of colors and people collect in masses to dance to it. (Even though they're usually totally empty in Blockland.)

I've tried making clubs several times, but I'm usually held back because of event limits, or just not being able to come up with a good idea for a design. I don't know if you're somewhat new to Blockland, but there's a lot of structures that tend to be built badly, but similarly through the community. (I.E., houses/bases/offices/any other loving building that exists, involving lots of 1x5s and two large base plates.)

But to answer your question, yeah, I've seen those builds. What about them?

So... what exactly would you accomplish by making some kind of blacklist against certain users that you consider to be "noobs"? Do you think this would somehow make you invincible to any kind of idiocy?

Nice try. You're on the Internet. That's not happening any time soon.

Help / Re: Black and White Colorset

I found a different colorset that works almost as well, but I'm still looking for the original one.

Help / Black and White Colorset
« on: November 15, 2010, 01:54:32 PM »
I'm trying to re-find a color set that I had downloaded a few versions back, it was basically just an all black and white colorset. It had 4 columns, one solid, and then 3 shades of transparency. It had like, 16 shades of gray or something, which could make for some great black-to-white gradients. Does anyone know about the color set that I'm talking about?

Suggestions & Requests / Re: Ideas that should be made: A list
« on: November 14, 2010, 05:23:30 PM »
I support everything here.
This. These are some great ideas. But with the horizontal bricks, the idea is a bit wide open. Would the brick just include the pole itself, or would there be some plates on one/both ends of the pole to attach the pole to something? Frankly, I would just prefer the bare pole itself, and to be able to build on top of it. (Despite the fact that there is no stud on the top or bottom of the pole.)

I can't think of a specific user, but there's definitely certain users that come along now and then and just make me all like "I WILL CASTRATE YOU WITH A SHARP AND RUSTY PIECE OF LAWN EQUIPMENT."

I don't get along with a lot of people on Blockland, usually because I can't keep my opinions to myself. So there's probably a lot of other people who think of me as their arch nemesis because of how nasty I was to them. xP

Suggestions & Requests / Re: 2 sided paintable bricks.
« on: October 09, 2010, 09:39:50 PM »
This sounds like one of those "impossible" requests, but I do wonder just how impossible it would really be. If something like this were created, I would imagine it would be some kind of script that would make only one poly of a brick get painted, or one "side". That would make things difficult, because if you just wanted to paint an entire brick another color, you would have to paint each side. Not to mention round bricks, which I think use 9 polys on the sides to create a round appearance.

But I'd certainly be willing to put in that effort, if it's for the sake of my build. :<

Yeah, I really don't see why you need a completely useless brick, for something easy to make.

Maybe you're just a spoiled brat?
Nah.
You just seem to be unusually lazy.
This forum is for making suggestions and requests. The entire forum revolves around people who are too lazy to use alternatives, or maybe just have something particular in mind. :| And I think this person has something particular in mind, something that wouldn't be the same if he just went with the normal method.

Drama / Re: Why do people on Blockland have to be such richards?
« on: October 07, 2010, 09:00:44 PM »
I think the combination of elementary schoolers and internet elitists are what lead to the assholish-ness of the Blockland community. There's the people who don't understand how the internet/game works and take very immature routes of trying to get their way, and then there's the people who are used to the internet and enjoy rubbing the younger peoples' faces in it. And everyone is trying to act like the second group. >_>

This forum is for Suggestions and Requests, for Blockland. Hence the name of the forum. This would probably be better suited for the Off Topic forum.

Suggestions & Requests / Re: Flat windows

I see. A flat window that you can build on. Well, at the moment there's always the option of taking print plates, which you can build on, and building some bricks to hold it up, then building a ceiling print plate on top of those bricks, and then a normal print plate on top of that, to avoid any brick-textures showing up. (Or if you only need it to look good from one side, you can just use one print plate.) With that method, you should be able to build "flat" windows of any size.

You mean like a sky light window? I agree, that would be useful, but what exactly do you want as far as measurements? I wouldn't be able to make it myself, but that could help whoever would make it know what people were looking for.
