Suggestions & Requests / Re: A good halloween server.
« on: October 07, 2010, 08:21:12 PM »
I think I know what you're talking about too, that it was something by the USSR clan? Wouldn't that basically be a Halloween city build, then?

I'm sure Halloween servers will begin showing up sooner or later, but that doesn't seem all that difficult to recreate. Couldn't you manage to make it yourself? I mean, if it's just a street then... yeah... >_>

General Discussion / Re: BL_ID`s

4876 is my ID. But I hate all the people who take IDs as a status sign. I've met plenty of 3 digit IDs who were absolute morons and couldn't build worth stuff. And visa versa, people who were terrific at building, and had very high IDs. (Usually because it was either their second ID, or they were just very used to building block type games.) A low ID means that you signed up earlier, period. It shouldn't be this statement about what kind of person you are. :/

Help / What's new this time?
« on: September 30, 2010, 04:49:49 PM »
V17 just came out, and I'm curious to know what's new in it. Normally I would see a list of the changes somewhere, but I'm not finding that this time. (At least not right now.)

Does anyone know where I could find a list of the changes, or explain to me what has been changed?

Well, I agree that I've seen one too many noob made color sets. (I don't give a forget that it's your first add on, I'm going to flame the stuff out of you for putting it here.)

But, do you care to explain when exactly the "legends" stopped coming in? Or, do you possibly care to try and fix the situation by SUGGESTING good add ons? Telling us that won't solve anything. If anything, it only decreases the morale of people willing to actually make add ons. I actually was very surprised by the whole revolution of new and useful bricks, I thought that was a TON of good add ons. Lots of bricks that I had been waiting to see were finally made. At the same time though, there's only so much that users will think of to do with the current system. If new features are added in with upcoming versions of Blockland, people may come up with more ideas. For example, the addition of events made for tons of new add ons. It'll only be a certain amount of time before something else comes in that you like. But really, complaining about it won't do a thing.

General Discussion / Role Playing in Blockland
« on: September 16, 2010, 08:34:40 PM »
Some hate it, some don't.

I myself usually go with the anti-RP side, and find the need to put in my server welcome message "This is NOT AN RP.", just to avoid such things. Even so, my mall build/city build/amusement park build/etc, ALWAYS get someone who comes along and has to ask "Can I work here?"

Though I can't help but be somewhat attracted to it all. Changing my avatar, "realizing" things in builds with events and bots to make you feel like you're really there, they're all things that would technically be called Role Playing. I've realized it a lot with building my Alice in Blockland build, where the entire time I'm trying as hard as possible to make the player feel like they're Alice. So I find myself a bit hypocritical to act as though I'm somehow better than other people by tricking myself into believing that I'm not role playing.

At the very least, though, I can honestly say that I've never found the need to ask "Can I be the dog?" :/
stuff sounds like S&M or something... >_>

Do you ever role play? If so, how DO you role play? What role plays do you go to? What measures to you take to play said role? Where do you draw the line to where RPing becomes pure stupidity? If not, what do you think about the people who do role play?

General Discussion / Re: Blockland ™ Unofficial Chatroom
« on: September 06, 2010, 04:40:00 PM »
The at least half of all BL forum posts consist of these two things, why would you try to take them out?
For the faint hope that people in the Blockland forum actually would care about seeming like normal, decent people, and having a conversation. :/

Not this "again"? There've been previous attempts?

I've actually been interested in seeing what people on Blockland are really like. Just the forums can be a bit dull. Actually seeing what people look and sound like seems interesting. Even if it's not official, a tiny chat room makes it more likely that the people in the room are actually from Blockland, unlike Stickam where just anyone can come along and join in. I'll be interested to see who joins, for whatever amount of time that the room is actually alive.

General Discussion / Re: do you remember your first time making a server?
« on: September 04, 2010, 08:57:06 PM »
Well, my first couple of times involved me being depressed and alone for hours, before I realized that I had to forward ports. But my first time making a WORKING server was right after I heard about the update, and rushed to make a server with an old build I had saved. I wasn't there for long because I didn't plan to really do much of anything, but it mostly consisted of me "OMG!! OMG!!!"ing all over the place because people could finally join my server.

« on: August 30, 2010, 12:30:25 PM »
Does that mean theres a limit on datablock items?
I can't remember exactly what the limit is, but yes, there's a certain amount of datablocks that each player can have on their server. Any more and the server will crash. So it's not so much that there's a limit on the add ons, but there is a limit on how many datablocks you can use, so add ons that have more datablocks take up lots of space. It's just a memory kind of thing, I think.

Stop playing lame-ass flash games all day.
Is that Robot Unicorn Attack in your avatar?

Dont listen to this guy they ban for having an alternate account so we cant really trust anyone.
Accusing people of having an alternate account for no reason is a moronic thing to do. You have a point that we don't have many ways of knowing for sure if someone is or is not making an alternate account, but it's completely unnecessary to take this position of "They can't be trusted! They're going to break the rules!!" as soon as the person posts in the forums. When someone has just joined the forum, and only greeted themselves in a simple and normal way, there's no reason to accuse them of creating an alternate account.

What the hell is wrong with you L you make these post in witch you "Drama"things
you don't like.
What the hell is wrong with you? I'm asking a question, and trying to discuss things. I never "drama'd" anything. People like you like to come into my threads, bringing up stuff from past threads and automatically assume that anything I say is a complaint. I notice things in the community, and I question them. Therefor I want to talk about them. What you're doing is a perfect example of the kinds of things I notice and question. I'm not breaking any rules, you're the ones coming into my threads and being off topic. Learn to deal with the fact that some people post threads you don't like. Don't go running into their threads acting like they need to meet your expectations.

I use add ons... maybe way to many. I turn off the ones i dont use and keep the ones i want depending on what im hosting.. its the easiest way. It would be even easier if a mod was released that made it so you could turn addons off while the server was playing.. I dont think thats possible though
I thought someone released something like that a while ago. I might just be mistaking it with the In-Game Mod Manager, but that sounds very familiar. (Though it does bring up a couple of questions of how that would work. I'm probably wrong about it all.)

I have few because I don't want people to sit 10 minutes to download all add-ons I've chosen. And I are no good to choose things.  :cookieMonster:

So let's switch this around and ask us an another question:

Why do you have so much add-ons?
First of all, I usually disable every single one of my weapons and vehicles, unless I'm building a city. Second of all, almost all of my add ons are bricks, and I've used every single one of them. (As well as the people who visit my server.) I might have a lot of add ons, but I'm not a pack rat. I only enable what I need. (Which is a lot.)
