Add-Ons / [1.0] (Vehicle) Rivera Genesis
« on: May 28, 2021, 10:57:19 AM »

The Rivera Genesis is a 2021-remastered of one of the first cars I had in high school: The 1995 Ford Crown Victoria. It's a very simple design that is packed with multiple fun features!

Including, but not limited to:
  • 4 Variants: Default, PI (Police Interceptor), Taxi, and Donk
  • CVS Categories: Body, BodyTop (Taxi and Default Only), Front, Back, Hood, Roof, Trunk, Glass (Default Only), Pushbar
  • Engine Sound Support
  • Randomized Taxi Advertisements (Not Dependant on CVS)
  • Shift-Brick Donk Hydraulic Controls (See keymap below)
  • Shift-Brick Police Controls: Bullhorn, Siren, Yelp, and Wail
  • Police Liveries: Default, Sheriff [Metro Dade], HW Patrol [NYPD], State Trooper, Mall Security, and Border Patrol
  • Horn Support - Mouseclick to honk/use bullhorn!

If using default brick controls, I have made a keymap for how you can use the hydraulics on the Donk variant. If supershift is enabled, the set you toggle will bounce.

I'd second on the consensus of getting a 1060 if you can. My only advice is to try to avoid getting one second-hand (Facebook Marketplace, for instance). I had the unfortunate experience of a 3GB EVGA 1060 taking the dumps 6 months in; The guy I bought it from said that it was never used in his arcade machine-building business (emulating or something like that). Was working great until randomly it started spinning at full speed and made my display blackout.

Oh dear...What am I doing at this point? Is this considered too much?
Nah...

If you use the default shift brick keybinds on the number pad, I've visually constructed a pad layout to tell you how it works. The red squares are the wheels that are affected by the spring heights.

It is also worth noting that if supershift is enabled, you can do a bunny hop with these sets, excluding numpad 1 and 3. To cancel spring modifications, press the cancel brick key (numpad 0 by default).

Fortunately, turn signals are also not affected

Code credits to Teneksi's Emperor80 to make this happen

Lol the “How’s my driving?” Sticker. There’s a typo on it but apart from that...

Also for taxi ads, is there a way for us to add our own ads?
oops on the typo. I’ll fix it later.

As far as ads go, DM me on discord your ideas. I’ll have a maximum of 10, there is currently four to choose from. I’m out and about right now running errands, but I’ll post the raw images here in a bit.

Here's the ads, the first two here made by my friend Kane

I imported this one from Teneksi's crown vic

And made this "got milk" spinoff

It's that time again for another dev update.

I released a Beta update for the Suburb, including all the rough updates mentioned earlier. Additionally, I added horns to this update! Tell me what you think. Credits to Teneksi for helping me getting it working, as it uses functions from the Capital Police variant to get the horn to work.

You can download from either Blockland Online or Blockland Glass. A forum topic later will be made for the final 1.0.0 release.

The Genesis also received 3 new variants, the horn script mentioned above, and CVS!

Starting with the default variant, you have the ability to equip a push bar, and apply these custom trunks: Legacy (Left), and P71 (Right). Body top is defined in the middle. These also apply for the Taxi down below

Speaking of Taxi, here it is! Mostly inspired by the New York Cab and Co. Taxi adverts on top are randomized; there is an 80% chance your taxi will spawn with one of 4 adverts.

And my favorite part:

Second-to-last is a police variant! Also thanks to the capital, you have the ability to choose between a siren wail, yelp, or bullhorn sound effect. Numpad 2 is the Yelp, Numpad 8 is the Wail, mouse trigger toggles the bullhorn, and you can toggle the siren bar on and off with Numpad +!

There are 5 different liveries to choose from as well! Default, Sheriff (Metro Dade), HW Patrol (New York Style), State Trooper, and Security! Click to enlarge any of the photos below!

Last but not least, love it or hate it, Teneksi himself had one special request: Get DONKED ON!

67
Holy stuff.

I'd be impressed if BL can handle this. Is this from TDU (Test Drive Unlimited) 2?

68
Being a single texture is better, it's still a small file, plus it optimizes the vehicle model much more, so we don't have to separate each node for the car for it's respective material.
This, but also I just thought of trying something new. It's very nice in the end

69
What’s the color palette thing for? Elaborate.
What.

You basically take the image below and apply a UV Texture in Blender to the details/non-colorable parts of the car.

I think this should have explained it, but it basically replaces all those png files you see in older vehicle addons (gray25, gray50, gray, light gray, brakelight, etc.), and instead, all meshes that use said non-colorable materials, are applied that material in the color palette via a texture in blender.

I graduated college recently. Here and there making content once in a while.

A whole lot of good news! I have recently graduated from college, and am ready to move on with the next chapter in life!

But with that short introduction out of the way, the Marabelle has been released!
https://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=327164.0

Additionally, I started work on two new cars from the formal Family Cars Pack: The 1995 Ford Crown Victoria (Rivera Genesis) and a touchup on the 1994 Chevrolet suburban (Dalton Suburb)!

Starting with the Genesis, I continued with the theme of using 3d models as a reference, it took time to scale it to spec, but so far this is turning out nice.

It also uses a new method of applying non-colorable materials: Color pallets! A very clever tactic discovered by Filipe with his newer cars.
You basically take the image below and apply a UV Texture in Blender to the details/non-colorable parts to the car.
(Ignore the pink checkerboard; they're placeholder slots for more colors in the future)

Additionally, after being pointed out some of the bugs with the Dalton Suburb model, I went ahead and cleaned it up! See the old versus new below

The new, in better detail

And a rough outline of what has happened:
Quote
Reduced the number of polygons (Removed unnecessary vertices)
Scaled the wheel up by 7%
New panel gap definitions
Refined interior walls and seats
Converted material list to a Details color pallete
Engine sounds imported from the Corderilla
Redefined the front facia, and light meshes for the scripts
Square font "DALTON SUBURB"
New Dalton Badge
Redefined glass windows
Added a rearview mirror

There are still a couple of bits and pieces I need to clean up, but expect an update to the beta addon soon!

Add-Ons / [1.0] (Vehicle) Abraham Marabelle
« on: May 05, 2021, 09:58:31 AM »

The Marabelle is a luxury car fit for a king. Based off of the 1985 Lincoln Town Car, it handles similar to Filipe's Deluxe, but performance has been reduced--who needs to be in a rush with this car anyway?

Features
  • Four Variants - Default, Hearse, Wagon, and Limo
  • Model constructed with a 3D Sketchup Model, as opposed to traditional blueprints
  • Minimal /garage parts, but enough to make unique color combinations!
  • CVS Categories: Body, Bodytop, Front, Grill, Hood, Rear, Trim, Spoiler, and Roof
  • More mass and stiffer springs on the Limo and Hearse Variants
  • You can ride in the coffin in the back

Have you ever asked Filipe for tips when modeling cars? For some reason your proportions are always off. Maybe the wheels and/or wheel arches on your cars are just too small.
Yes we do work together and help each other out with tweaking model proportions. But I swear that the reason the arches and wheels are "small" is due to the reference blueprints I am using - the same goes with 3D models. Whatever it uses that defines the car is how I model

We have different art styles, and it takes MONTHS, mind you, to get consistency car after car.

74
After 9 hours or so in one sitting, I started a new car: The Abraham Marabelle!

It's based on the 1985 Lincoln Town Car, and is not meant to be mistaken for the Emperor (That was a 79, 80, Cadillac DeVille)

The following day I incorporated two extra variants! The Limo, and the Hearse (Yes, you can also lie in the coffin)

It's very near completion, and hope to release it soon!

Suggestions & Requests / Re: Set default Environment settings mod.
« on: April 25, 2021, 12:43:33 PM »
why?
Just saves an extra step, the green studs and the default skybox gets boring after a while. Not really needed though; just an idea/suggestion
