Author Topic: Media Bias  (Read 3305 times)

It was stated eigh-loving-teen times that we were talking about news.

Also, on topic I don't read/watch the news as much as I should, but when I do I read it online.
I know, I also like it because it's the only news channel my family watches.

Channel 6 Action News
Its run my ABC so I voted for them

DEMOCRAT!

I watch CBS usually, but I am republican.  Is that weird?

I don't even watch any of the ones listed on the poll.

PBS or NPR are the only sources I trust, but even then I take all of the news with a grain of salt.
Every news media outlet is going to operate in the interest of some one. The major networks are, as mostly everyone knows, owned by huge corporations.
So publicly funded news is what I turn to, keeping in mind that they still have to appeal to a large an audience as possible, so they are still obligated to pull their journalistic punches, just less so than outlets owned by Columbia, G.E., Disney, etc.

Fox...
It has the office :D
But TBS made and produced it.
TBS, Turkey Bacon Sandwich.
What does TBS stand for?
Well i know B stands for bacon, so TBS must be pretty awesome.

The Broadcasting Station? I don't know.

The Broadcasting Station? I don't know.

Turner Broadcasting Station.

Turner as in Ted Turner.

Ted Turner as in Ted Turner's wife.

Ted Turner's wife as in her rich family.

Her rich family as in lobbying money.

I find Glenn Beck Amusing, so I watch FOX only if I see him on.

Oh, and Ted Turner('s wife(rich family(lobbying money))) also owns CNN.

CNN sucks.

I don't watch cable news. Except like NY1 and some other stuff in the morning for traffic accidents, school cancellations and weather.

When it comes to news I listen to BBC World Service and NPR on the radio. On the Internet it's typically BBC, NPR, Foreign Policy Magazine and the bundles of random stuff that comes up in my RSS reader.

The problem with news isn't just bias. It's a multifaceted problem and bias is only one tiny bit of it.

Watch Charlie Brooker's Newswipe. It's really a great commentary on the news and it's pretty hilarious. You'll walk away with gems like "Islam will dominate the world, screams piece of paper held aloft by small recently banned group in the snow" "quantitative easing is like filling an engine with imaginary petrol," and "it's not a fire, it's Satan coming to earth in the form of oil." It's a bit like the Onion except with real news and somewhat serious commentaries interjected in occasionally.

I'm doing a project in my Life Skills class . It consists of media bias and lots of polls. Please vote and explain why you chose that option.
CNN sucks.
Shush you, by voicing your opinion you are damaging the scientific integrity of this poll and contaminating the results! How can you expect to write a non-biased report! So much for "life skills."
