My dad is ordering a new video card and psu for me today but he is still saying something about the motherboard and video card being not compatible. I'm getting this video card and I don't need anymore suggestions on that. I have a "MCP61PM-GM" motherboard. Manufactured by ECS. Everything is good except whatever my dad is talking about. I bought my computer about a year ago and the motherboard is still the original one and was meant for a stuffty integrated card.

Can you find any incompatibilities with the card and the processor?

No that video card should be compatible with your motherboard, but since that motherboard only supports older AMD processors, your CPU will probably be a bottleneck when it comes to gaming. Another problem I see is that the graphics card WILL cover some of your SATA ports, making them unusable. Also, that graphics card might be way too big to even fit in your case because the GTX 260 is pretty huge.

I've replaced my CPU.

It's an AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ 3.00 GHz

That's a decent CPU, so there shouldn't be too many problems in most games if you do get a GTX 260. Also, the motherboard model you listed is only rated for CPU's with a maximum TDP (power consumption) of 89 watts, while your current CPU has a maximum TDP of 125 watts. I would be careful if I were you, because using a CPU with a higher TDP then what the motherboard is rated for can cause the motherboard to burn out. Just a warning.

I'm not so familiar with motherboard specs so here might be a dumb question.

Will a better (something like a 700w) PSU help the situation with the CPU and motherboard wattage?

No, it will not. As long as your not stressing your CPU for like 8 hours a day, there really shouldn't be a problem for a while.

I leave my computer on for days but I do not use it for more than 8 hours. More like 5-6 hours. During the time I don't use it the CPU's usage is like 1-5%
