What is a dedicated server?

Yeah, so im new to blockland. Can anyone explain to me what a dedicated server is?

A server which will run without the host being there.
It's in your blockland directory, and you basically run it, and it loads into bedroom as a new server.
From there you can change the map and stuff.

i don't use it for a clan, i use it for freebuild/city rp which i don't do often/DM/TDM/other junk
this way i can do other things with it up, and if building, i keep emitters
