Author Topic: What is the "master server"? Is my server really hosted on that?  (Read 1707 times)

When I make a new internet server, it says "connecting to local host". Does that mean my server is really on some other server, or is that only when you have a dedicated server? Also, how do you make one? I heard about double clicking on some file in the blockland folder to get a dedicated server?

     Thanks,

The master server us basically a bulletin board servers post tehmselves to. It just lists all active servers. It's possible to run a server without the master server although people could no longer use the server browser to find your server.

the master server just connects people together, and to make a dedicated server, double click dedicated.bat, which is in your blockland folder

Nope.
All it does is give you a list of servers and information. Your client connects itself to the server based on the information the master server has given to you.

It makes badspot able to view your specs D:

The master server shows that you have an 8800 GT which is the card I was using on my development box until recently.  There is likely something wrong with your computer.
