Author Topic: Leopard Gecko Care.  (Read 1402 times)

I just felt like make a topic on leopard geckos, partly because so many people are getting and have geckos.
                                                                       Chapter 1

Chapter one: Choosing your leopard gecko(s). First off, there are many kinds of designs on geckos. I prefer carrot. There are lots, and no geckos are alike, so your gecko can always be recognized. Another thing, is to make sure your leopard gecko is checking its body. It should look fat, its tail too. If it is plump right around the thighs, it is likely a pregnant gecko. (I'll take about that in chapter two) If i looks gray and skinny, it is NOT a healthy gecko! IF the gecko does not move around alto, its unlikely its dead. If looks like it has infected eyes, ears, or cuts do not buy it. Read onto chapter two!
                                                                        Chapter 2

If you want to have your geckos mate, once again make sure they are positive. Check eyes, ears, mouth if you get a quick look.(If the pupil is changing it is fine as long as it has color.) In the picture above you can see the two lovees. A thing i should tell you: NEVER put two males in the same cage, they will fight and kill. 1 male and as many females as you want. People say 10 gallon tank for each gecko, so 20 gallon for 2 geckos, honestly i have a 15 or 10 gallon tank with two in right now. They will also need a breeding place. Put a heat pad or light over it. I use a cool wipe container, with some dirt. they like soft, warm places. Cut a hole in the top and put the heat pad under it. Both geckos may get a little violent to each other. They can have up to 15 - 20 babies!

                                               Other info...

For your cage, i sometimes use green mates for bedding but i am now using play sand. People will say its okay. Some say it WILL KILL YOUR GECKO!! OMGF!! Dont freak. As long as you give them a small bowl of calcium, and food, they wont at the sand. A little pinch of it wont hurt them, but if they are gulping down like a cup of sand they wont digest it. Just be a little careful and your okay. You should give 2 hidding spots and maybe 1 basking spot for each gecko you put in. (TIP: all females wont fight, and all males wont fight, just more than 1 male and females Will end in chaos.)

From the front of every gecko it looks like they are smiling, the gecko was probably opening its mouth and they got a screen shot.
