Author Topic: Arch Emitter & Arch Events  (Read 792 times)

I just made my very first add-on called the Arch Emitter. Right now it looks very crappy, as if I just painted it into the picture. That's because since I'm new to add-on making I used one solid color so I don't get ahead of myself. I'll explain what my emitter is. I've made tunnels on my server before and when a common newbie sees it they say, "Teach me how to build this." I refuse, and they quit. I'm tired of noobs always IRCing me stating that I am an evil child who doesn't share his builds (lol). So I made a more noob-friendly add-on that allows for them to create "tunnels" that still look horrible due to my emitter's slim structure. After creating the emitter I tested it with the common mainstream of players I get on my server. While some were angered that I wouldn't help them build an arch, the majority still liked my idea. That sounded relatively easy. However, it was far from it. I had to create an entirely new set of events for my arch to work to its full potentail. Thus was born the "Arch Events" that went along with my emitter. Keep in mind that what I am about to say took place before and during my emitter development. I created events for it such as;
IfEmitter>Arch>SetArch>[Brick Name] This event basically took the current brick that had the Arch Emitter set and created the other half. The Arch does not show up until you have two designated Arch foundations. The [Brick Name] is where you place the name of on of the two Arch foundations. After that, you have a full Arch.
OnActivate>NamedBrick>ArchDisappear/ArchReappear [] This one is pretty nifty. You can set a brick that, once activated, makes a pre-selected Arch disappear. You can use ToggleEvents to make it reappear if you would like. I believe there are two other events, but those are not even worth mentioning. They don't even work :(
There was some more stuff I wanted to tell you guys about, but I forgot. If I remember them then I'll edit them into this post. I'm also locking this topic because I don't want you guys flaming me by saying stuff like, "You just painted this on, dumbass." or "You didn't make this." or even, "This looks completely useless, crappy, and unneeded." I almost forgot to mention that I will not post a download as this has crashed me before. Besides, it's still being tested and is extremely glitchy. The script is messy, so you might accidentally spawn infinite horses.
