I realize that'll make the graphics card not work at full potential, but would it work at all?
Theoretically it would work, but that adapter would make the graphics card too tall to fit in your case. As I said before, there really is no point in trying to upgrade this computer because the only parts that you will be able to get to work in it, suck.

Yeah, but I already have the graphics card, I got it for 5 bucks from a friend. And until I can afford an entire new computer, would it be worth 12 bucks to buy that adapter?

Also that adapter costs $42, not $12.

I can just have the case on it's side. It's not that big of a deal.
And on Amazon it's 12 bucks.

What graphics card did you buy from your friend?

A NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS

Well, seeing as how that graphics card is already pretty terrible, it probably wont be bottlenecked by your cpu or the adapter, assuming it is compatible.

It's definitely an upgrade from integrated graphics.
And really, it's not that bad.

Well if you don't play graphics intensive games then its fine, but I did build a better computer for cheaper then what that one costs so its up to you.
I just wish I knew how to pick out good parts and stuff, then put it together.

This is why you ask people to do it for you, there are tons of people here who would be happy to help.
