I was looking through my mini bookcase that I luckily haven't touched in years, and suddenly I saw the book's spine and nearly had a heart attack

The Sword of Shannara is TOTALLY a rip off of Lord of the Rings, but it's too good not to read.  Read it now.

It took an hour or so of deep mind entry (lol), which was jump-started by a vague idea, and ultimately ended with a frantic search for the book in question. I really don't think I can remember anything else.

I remember The Series of Unfortunate Events and Harry Potter but those were/are more recent than The Seventh Tower. I moved aside a few Redwall books when I was going ballistic, those were pretty good and are probably a lot better now that I'm not a little kid with an attention span as big as a grain of sand.

stuff they went looking for a Codex or something, and the only other thing I remember is the barbarian girl did something dumb so she had to stand naked on her boat to humiliate herself because I was like 10 and anything containing even text-based nudity was lolzorz
