Backstory
This story is based of my DooM II mod series. My latest mod, Die Alone, takes place after my old mod, Viper. This story takes place before those events with John's brother who was presumed KIA. This storyline might be used for a mod that I might release later on.
Timeline: Prequel (This) > Alpha Lab Events of 2044 > The Rebellion of 2045 > My Unreleased Mod, Hollow City > The Destruction Of Alpha Lab 2048 > The Death of The Rebellion's Leader, Viper 2048 > (Not Released Yet, Storyline Will Be Explained In My Mod, Die Alone)
Story
I'm leading these soldiers to their death. Kill Viper... Anyone who tried came back in a body bag. They expect these marines that just came out of bootcamp to be able to take down a skilled mercenary. That's just it, they don't expect us. We're just the grunts, the distraction. This city is dead. Hollow. Forgotten. A perfect place to send five men to their grave. I feel a shiver as my suit becomes damp. Rain. It always rains. I hear the click of a gear and a short, painful scream. I already know what's happened. Car bombs. I don't even turn around to see who it is. There's no point. We'll all be dead men soon. I feel a soft whip fly past my head followed by the thud of a dead body. I begin to run, hearing the barrage of bullets. My sprint to safety is interrupted when I hear a short click. I don't even have time to realize it's a mine until it explodes underneath my feet. Then, everything goes black.
My eyes slowly open but I quickly shut them at the sight of my missing leg. There's doctors. No... Rebels... Why are they helping me... I open my eyes again and see a woman walking towards me. Viper... She closes my eyes and whispers something into my ear, one single, simple sentence. John is alive... Then suddenly my world darkens again.
