Author Topic: Well, I didn't think Apple would do this.  (Read 882 times)

Their own iPhone 4G Dev-Team made a jailbreak for the iPhone 4G.

Jailbreak isn't illegal, and the more people that have iPhones the more money they'll get... So I'm actually surprised it took them so long to make something like this.

Jailbreak time. :3

Well, my dad told me about 3 weeks ago that Jailbreaking is legal now. I knew this would happen, just not from  Apple.

What is jailbreaking? What does it do, and why was it illegal?

Its not their dev team, it was just a group that calls themselves the dev-team

Jailbreaking is when you do something to your iPhone that enables it to connect to other phone carries, like T-Mobile or Sprint, something like that. It also has it's own little app store for free, exclusive apps that do certain stuff to the iPhone to enhance it or make it awesomeness.

So wait, if I had bought an iPhone I could use it on Verizon?

Yes. All you would need is a Verizon SIM Card though.

No, not quite.
Imagine you're using an operating system(for example. the iPhone uses Linux) that Apple has put measures around to prevent you from using the OS to its full extent. Now imagine being able to do whatever you want with the phone.

The first thing you described was unlocking.
