I've always hated attending school. It just seems like a large waste of time and energy, and I find the flaws with the system are so numerous and massive, it's a wonder anyone can get stuff done. The problem is we're not really focusing on the kids education, we're just trying to mass-produce information and cram it into kids and teenagers alike with reckless disregard for their personal skills wants or needs. I also think that "core" classes are the stupidest idea of all time, and that High School should be less geared toward completing requirements and more toward what sort of information would benefit an individual. Another SERIOUS problem is that school itself, and the tasks that come with it don't actually accomplish the desired goal of educating a student; Instead it teaches students ways of doing things that are absurd. In-fact, I'd bet that a big portion of what you learn in advanced classes has nothing to do with the class, and more to do with just trying to get through it/cheat it. Our education shouldn't be treated like this, a student should not have to try and survive a class, they should be actually learning, not worrying about due dates and work and homework and other bullstuff. That's loving stupid and I abominate teachers that pull that. It's lazy teaching, for one, and has nothing to do with educating a student about a subject. I mean really, if you're going to be a teacher, someone who literally shapes the lives of a generation, at least be enthusiastic, make them enjoy learning something, make it fun. Just have some sort of empathy for your students, stop being so callous. Teaching is not a job, it is a responsibility, a position of power, and too often do I see it misused, which has effectively shaped me into hating arithmetic.
The irony of me hating school so much is that I'm going to be a teacher, albeit I want to continue the philosophy of my best teacher throughout high school; In that it's better to actually teach someone something, than to bombard them with busy work, homework, and papers. I want my students to love my class, and to take something away from it, to learn SOMETHING about what I teach.
