Author Topic: what 3d animator?  (Read 947 times)

what is the 3d animator that people use to make add ons and maps im gonna try to do  that so...

Maps:
Mission editor

Modeling for weapons and stuff like that:
Blender
Anim8or
Milkshape

To activate mission editor:
1. Make a shortcut of your blockland execution file.
2. Right click the shortcut and hit properties
3. Find the "Target" property.
4. At the end of it add " -mod editor"(Minus the quotation marks, and there is ONE space before the -"
5. Run the game from that shortcut
6. Launch a server and hit f11

To use anim8or:
1. Make the model
2. Export it as .obj
3. Open milkshape, and import the model into there
4. Export the model as torque game engine(Should be a .dts file).
Notes for useing anim8or:
You must have milkshape, or blender, or you cant export it as .dts, which is used for models in blockland.

I havent used blender, so I dont know about that, all I know is that it's useable in blockland.

You could check out the "[RESOURCE] List of modder's tools and tutorials!" topic as well.

I personally suggest Wings3D or Milkshape 3D.

Milkshape > http://chumbalum.swissquake.ch/ms3d/download.html < Costs money, easy

Blender > http://www.blender.org/ < Free, but hard.
NOPE wont work i tryed downloading it it failed

I believe Blender requires Python (not sure which version, or if it is actually required).

If you are looking to animate, blender has a great animation system.

And according to heed, most of the models are made with blender and most of them are a big success for example heed's military pack.

Why is it hard? You just don't know how to do it. I learned by myself. In other words, it's easy.

hmm. odd. It worked for me. I hope you get it to work, because it can be fun to play around in. Oh yeah, and you DO need a .dts exporter, but it was easy to install.

yes, I believe it does. but when I downloaded it, it already had it. Not sure if it has changed since... a month ago. But my download was the mac version, so Im not sure if Windows version comes with it.

Triple edit:

yeah, it's a easy to learn, even easier to master.

I've been trying for 3 days tutorial and no tutorial, I couldn't get it. and I have always been wanting to model something.

It's not harder to use, it's harder to learn.
Once you learn it, there's a ton more features, making it (in my opinion) easier than Milkshape.
