So I'm on vacation in Idaho, currently, not far from the border of Montana, and who goes to Montana without stopping by Glacier National Park?
We drove up through it and it was the most awesome thing I've ever seen. It's gorgeous, the trees are massive, the mountains are miles high, the water is literally crystal clear to most any depth. They have a massive mountain that hosts a small two lane road going up to the top of Logan's Pass, and at the top, it's about 6700 feet above sea level. The road is very narrow, leaving less than half a foot between the rock wall on one side, the other car in the oncoming lane and the occasional railing that prevents you from falling off of a shear cliff that would send you rolling down a damn mountainside over a mile high.
So anyway, I took some pictures with my phone. As awesome as it was, my phone doesn't take the best pictures (my soon-to-be Droid will, heheh) and half way through I realized I could change my pictures' resolutions so I did that. The drive there, it started raining very hard but it slowly stopped once we got into the actual park and it slowly got cleared up a little allowing bits and pieces of sky to show though clouds were still present. keep in mind it's September and there are indeed snow capped mountains. At the base of the pass, it was a nice 57 degrees and at the top a chilly 36 with flurries. The clouds were low lying and we literally drove up through the clouds. They were also doing road work, which seemed an odd spot to do so. Pro shots can be found
here. Also, note that we were driving in my dad's giant Dodge 2500 as pictured below. We had to put the mirrors in to pass cars and miss the rocks. And another note, many of you remember that I was in a car accident where we rolled off a small ledge - I had insane paranoia through here. Anyway, pictures:
And that's it. We only spent a day there but I could spend a week.
