Recover files from the old hard drive.

Unless the Hard Drive (even then, sometimes) is damaged then it's still on there.

It's a pretty simple fix actually, they sell external hard drive casings at most computer stores and on line. Their cheap. Twenty dollars cheap. Those allow you to turn your hard drive into a portable one that connects with a regular ol' USB cable.

You have to be careful to get the right kind, there are IDE and SATA so if you're not computer savvy you might want to find someone who is.

But basically once you plug it in it'll pop up like a flash drive and all you do is browse through your folders and find what you want and drag them onto your new computer. Pretty easy and painless.
