I'm currently not gaming because this laptop has horrible FPS and lags too badly to move an inch in games like TF2, CS:S, etc.

For now it would act as my dual monitor, and it would also save time for searching for a monitor after I get the new computer.

That's even worse. I don't even think your computer will be able to draw the desktop. :/

And it wouldn't be worse. I was able to use my dad's 23" HD one for awhile without a snitch. He was allowing me to try it for my laptop and it worked perfectly.

Also the HD is loving pointless if you don't have a video card that supports HDMI.
