Well he's not really an idiot actually. Graphics can make up for a large portion of a game, DEPENDING ON THE GAME. If it is graphcally stunning but has poor gameplay/story/etc. then it makes for a mediocre game. If it has ok/bad graphics but good gameplay/story/etc. then it could be a mediocre game too, but more likely to be better.
