Author Topic: Temporary zone that deflects projectiles  (Read 910 times)

I've been thinking about how I'd improve my edited TF2 Flamethrower, but it turned out using the deflector script for the alt fire was not a very good idea.
It became extremely difficult to 'deflect' using this as even deflecting relatively slow rockets had to be highly accurate in timing, right as the rocket was in range, the blast had to be shot. There can't be any preemptive striking.

Sorry for just begging the community, but can anyone give me an example of what a script that produces a zone that deflects projectiles like the deflector and deletes said zone after a specified time?

I thought the deflector script worked pretty fine when implented in the fglamethrower add-on.
I tried it, works fine to me.

Deflecting isn't just something, it needs more skill then the flaming.

i'd suggest being able to use continous fire for deflecting, that way it's like a sheild

lordician, you see, in TF2 I can recall being able to blast with my compressed air moments before the projectile was in my face
i'm really just trying to make it more user friendly

also i should note that im using a specialized ammo mod for this, and how much ammo is used is not equal to the usefulness of the alt fire at the moment

That's true.
But maybe it's just a matter of getting used to it? :P

or make the burst last longer and go farther

yeah that just made it rediculous
you'd fire the measly little burst and rockets like five meters away would fly back into their face
and only then its actually possible to use without dying every time its attempted

the thing attempted here is something that could probably deflect more than one projectile over a course of one or more seconds

You have the latest version? The really old one had a terrible range and angle to it. I honestly don't even understand my own deflector. I knew nothing about vectorDot when I wrote it meaning a lot of the math in there is probably made up formulas. No idea how it works.
