Author Topic: Ad's you didn't even notice.  (Read 439 times)

Once again I was subject to a mystical add that popped up without noticed, and I was trying to download something that would take about a minute, and Chrome said 6 hours left. In a panic, I turned off the Xbox, thinking it absorbed more internet than I thought sitting at a menu screen. The speed still stuck at 50 b/s. I slide up the taskbar to see whats running, just fraps, chrome, and some goddamn french ad promoting something that translated to literature help or something.

God damnit.

sometimes on somethingawful this cooking ad pops up and a video runs explaining how to cook something which I didn't bother getting the name of
is crazy bro

Get Adblock. Also try restarting Chrome/see if anyone else is download something. Oh yeah, and how big was the file?

1mb.

I just closed the ad, and it fixed. I'm just sick of this happening and getting yelled at by my mom for yelling at my sister.

...How does an ad slow down your internet that much? That doesn't make any sense.
Aren't most ads images and flash files? It should only have to download the image/flash, and the it would stop using your internet.

My internet is as slow as forget already, it peaks at an average of 15kb/s. Sometimes I get "lucky" and get a peak at 22kb/s, but extremely rarely.
That's what I get for living in the beautiful forest.

Wow, damn. And at times I feel like 2.5 mb/s is slow.
Hope you get some better internet some day, man.

I've learned to live with it, however when my sister's iTouch comes it the speed bounces down a hill to 2kb/s.
And I will when I can afford an apartment.
